Siemens Energy Procurement Project Manager in Alpharetta, Georgia

ASnapshot of Your Day:

Integratesprocurement management process and project teams at an early involvement duringsales phase. Organizes procurement activities in a project under optimumdeployment of resources. Implements procurement strategies, optimizing projectresults, including availability of goods and services in quality, in time, inbudget. Sources, evaluates, and engages with suppliers including traveling totheir facilities as needed. Ensures observance of obligatory Procurementprocesses and regulations.

HowYou’ll Make an Impact:

  • As a member of a regional procurement team providing ProjectProcurement Management (PPM) support for demands within the Siemens EnergyService Controls & Digitalization organization and in North America.

  • Actively lead business projects with all sourcing requirementsend-to-end (from project kick-off to delivery/installation) as theassigned PPM.

  • Sourcing Suppliers, evaluating them as well as closely reviewingtheir quality and processes. This will require traveling to suppliers’facility and reviewing their manufacturing processes (20-30% travel may berequired).

  • Establish sourcing processes, control all Procurement activities inthe project and inform all involved within team to deliver optimum impactfor the business (Procurement plan, target-costing) relating to budget,availability, delivery requirements, timeline and quality.

  • Analyze scope of supply, contractual obligations and exactlyunderstand customer’s functional needs. Identify procurement risks,opportunities, potential changes, claims and market forces during theentire project, together with Project Management, Commercial team, GlobalCommodity Management, etc. to avoid potential damage / exploit potential.

  • Bid preparation / Contribution to increased hit rate Support projectcalculation with reliable and up-to-date cost data based on Total Cost ofOwnership (ToCO) (rock-bottom price information where available). Include(supplier) innovations (e.g. through concept competitions) that improveSiemens' cost position and/or the customer's benefit.

  • Derive Procurement strategy for assigned projects in accordance withorganization’s Procurement strategies and ensure implementation (poolingor utilization of master contracts). Introduce negotiation recommendationstogether with Commodity Management to prepare for negotiations withsuppliers (back-to-back where appropriate) and to initiate appropriatemeasures. Act as a commodity manager for specific commodities within theregion.

  • Lead contractual and price negotiations and/or support assignedbuyers responsible for particular material fields to secure projecttargets with optimum conditions. Act as a lead buyer on specific and morecomplex purchasing demands.

  • Ensure that major Procurement risks, changes to original scope ofsupply and potential claims (towards customers and suppliers) are coveredin valid contracts. Ensure that contractual obligations (towards thecustomer that must be fulfilled by supplier) are covered in a way thatmitigates the own risk exposure.

  • Proactively ensure status visibility about availability ofmaterials, parts and resources and early alerting in case of deviations.Clarify internal indicators for project controlling and compiling allrelevant information to submit qualified reports (e.g. for the projectteam, Procurement management team).

  • Be proactive and forward systematically all relevant Procurementrelated project information (e.g. updated contractual conditions, SupplierManagement data) to keep all project participants and relevantcross-functional partners up to date. Share standard methodology andconduct lessons learn sessions. Sensitize cross-functional partners forProcurement related practices processes and metrics.

  • Define and implement projects that enable achievement of keyperformance indicators (CNI, Payment Terms, CTG, GVS, e-Rfx/auctions,etc.).

WhatYou Bring:

  • Bachelor’s degree or high school diploma with direct experiencerequired!

  • 5+ years of experience within the energy industry including 4-6years supply chain management experience!

  • Demonstrated track record as a transformative leader, collaborator,and change agent capable of getting results.

  • Cross-functional and cross departmental communication,collaboration, and relationship building with individuals from functionaldepartments across the company and with external suppliers!

  • Applicants must be legally authorized for employment in the UnitedStates without need for current or future employer-sponsored workauthorization. Siemens Energy employees with current visa sponsorship maybe eligible for internal transfers.
