The Hoist & Winch business unit at Collins Aerospace is seeking a Principal Quality Engineer. This individual will oversee all aspects of a project from defining requirements to evaluating project deliverables. The Quality Engineer will work closely with Value Stream Leaders (VSL’s) to assure projects are completely on time. This position will be in a multi-disciplinary team environment and will need to be able to thrive on tackling challenges. There will be heavy customer interaction in this role to meet the needs and expectations of the customer.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Responsible for both Program and Product Quality Engineering.

• Identifies and manages risk in product development primarily utilizing and driving PPAP core elements (e.g. PFMEA, MSA, Process Flow and Control Plans, etc.). Develops proactive quality initiative strategies and drives their implementation. Performs Escape management procedures, root cause analysis, and recommends corrective action for design problems for internally produced products & processes. Ensures all requirements are met for work transfer and process change management including Resourcing Gate and Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) acceptance. Designs and implements product engineering

• Developing, modifying, applying and maintaining quality evaluation, control systems and protocols for materials being processed into partially finished or finished products. Works with product design and specification, devises testing plans, methods and equipment to assure reliability of product.

• Collaborating internally to ensure quality standards are in effect. Ensures that projects and process control documentation are compliant with requirements, objectives and/or contracts.

• Satisfying quality issues raised by customers.

• Analyze and make recommendations for corrective actions for nonconformities and/or design problems for internally produced products & processes for managing risk in product development.

• Manage processes to ensure all requirements are met for work transfer and process change management including Resourcing Gate and Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) acceptance.

  Qualifications/Experience Needed:

• Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) unless prohibited by local laws/regulations and minimum 5 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 3 years of experience or in absence of a degree, 9 years of relevant experience

• U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are authorized to access information under this program/contract.

  Preferred Qualifications:

• 5+ years in Aerospace with solid knowledge of Quality Assurance in production / manufacturing and new products developments.

• FAA, EASA and other regulatory authority knowledge with PMR / MRB, Corrective action methodology experience is desired

• Certified in the appropriate ASQ Body of Knowledge (CQE, CQA, CRE, CPA)

The salary range for this role is 85,000 USD - 179,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
