ROLE SUMMARY:

We are currently extending our operations at the Larne facility as a result, a Maintenance Technician position has become available within the Process Maintenance Team.

JOB PURPOSE:

Builds, installs and repairs electrical/ mechanical and electronic circuits used on machine tools and plant equipment in a customer-focused team environment. Test faulty equipment and applies knowledge of operation of electronic units and mechanical systems to locate faults. Aligns, balances and calibrates equipment. Performs hand fitting to obtain precise fits and alignments using turning, milling, shaping, grinding or drilling equipment. May also perform maintenance welding operations as required. Carry out planned maintenance schedules ensuring operation within required company and legislative Health & Safety standards.

JOB DUTIES:

  • Supporting continuous improvements in health and safety through development of Risk Assessment, Method Statement to minimize risk when completing maintenance activities.

  • Provide essential maintenance support for operations activity.

  • Fault diagnosis of electronic, mechanical, pneumatic and hydraulic control systems.

  • Implementation of maintenance scheduling through development of CMMS.

  • Builds, installs and repairs Mech/elect/electronic circuits used on machine tools and plant.

  • Test faulty equipment and applies knowledge of operation of mechanical and electronic units to locate faults.

  • Resolves problems and recommends solutions to prevent recurrence of problem.

  • Aligns, balances and calibrates equipment, including mechanical & electronic testing instruments.

  • Support weekly toolbox and health & safety meetings.

  • Manage plant energy consumption through various systems (BMS, SCADA), and suggest energy improvements that could be implemented.

Qualifications

Essential Criteria:

  • Higher level education in electrical theory or a relevant discipline; or significant post-apprenticeship experience

  • Significant level of technical knowledge in electrical theory and application relating to plant operations and equipment gained from a similar or relevant role

  • Experience in applying electrical/electronic theory to analyse, diagnose and repair faults to machine tools and plant equipment.

  • Strong working knowledge of electrical/ electronic and/ or mechanical schematic diagrams.

Desirable Criteria:

  • Experience in automated conveyors, Hydraulic circuits, or similar assembly and test machinery

  • Experience in overhead cranes and semi-automated paint plants.

  • Project Management and or leadership experience

Please note: A requirement for this position is the ability to work at heights, in confined spaces and the flexibility to work a reasonable amount of overtime to be able to support operational demands at short notice

In addition, the candidate we are seeking should be enthusiastic and self-motivated with clear decision-making abilities. Strong communication and interpersonal skills will also be required to facilitate interaction with colleagues at all levels throughout the business.
