Amazon Business Intel Manager, Operational Reporting and Analytics in Austin, Texas

Key job responsibilities

As a Business Intelligence Manager at Amazon WW Grocery, your role will be pivotal in driving large-scale WW grocery projects and shaping our business intelligence strategies. You will be responsible for envisioning, executing, and leading in various critical areas, including:

  • Envision and strategize large WW grocery scale projects, thinking beyond conventional boundaries to drive innovation and growth.

  • Collaborate with senior leaders across the organization to align business intelligence initiatives with broader corporate goals.

  • Provide insights, recommendations, and data-driven guidance to support senior management in decision-making.

  • Establish and optimize mechanisms and processes for data collection, analysis, and reporting, ensuring efficiency and accuracy.

  • Lead efforts to integrate cutting-edge tools and technologies for advanced analytics and data management.

  • Work in close partnership with various teams, including data engineering, Software Development Engineers (SDEs), product management, and business teams, to gather requirements, design solutions, and implement data-driven projects.

  • Lead the development and maintenance of an enterprise-level Business Intelligence platform, ensuring scalability, reliability, and ease of use.

  • Drive the adoption of self-service analytics tools and empower teams across the organization to make data-driven decisions.

  • Recruit, hire, and mentor a high-performing Business Intelligence team.

  • Foster a culture of innovation, continuous learning, and collaboration within the BI team.

  • Provide coaching and professional development opportunities to team members.

  • Identify opportunities to optimize costs within the Business Intelligence function while maintaining quality and efficiency.

A day in the life

  • Manage a talented team of Business Intelligence Engineers to achieve its goals and development potential.

  • Define and manage a long-term vision and portfolio of Business Intelligence Products to improve the customer experience and business results by creating world-class data infrastructure and enabling data-driven automated solutions and business insights.

  • Perform Analysis of business requirements and translation into technical requirements. Independent realization of requirements for Business Intelligence and custom software development products. Design, develop and maintain scalable, automated, user-friendly systems, reports, and dashboards, etc. that will support our analytical and business needs.

  • Leading the design, development, and management of our analytical tools and reporting. Provide thought leadership and business analysis support as needed.

  • The successful candidate will demonstrate strong business acumen, experience in developing reporting and analytical infrastructures, strong communication skills, an ability to work effectively with cross functional teams, and an ability to work in a fast paced and ever-changing environment.

This team will solve challenging and novel problems every day and have the opportunity to redefine the grocery industry while collaborating with multiple teams across WFM and Fresh. Basic Qualifications

  • 10+ years of business intelligence and analytics experience

  • 5+ years of delivering results managing a business intelligence or analytics team, including employee development and performance management experience

  • Experience with SQL

  • Experience with ETL

  • Experience with data visualization using Tableau, Quicksight, or similar tools

  • Experience with R, Python, Weka, SAS, Matlab or other statistical/machine learning software

Preferred Qualifications

  • 10+ years of quantitative and qualitative data science/business intelligence with significant business impact experience

  • Experience leading and influencing the BI strategy of your team or organization
