Job Summary

We are seeking an innovative R&D Engineer to join our team. The ideal candidate will focus on researching and developing security capabilities on the Microsoft platform, as well as service configurations for both the Microsoft platform and other technology stacks. This role requires a deep understanding of automation principles, a passion for research, and a commitment to enhancing security features and service configurations.In addition, the R&D Engineer should have deep experience with zero-trust security architectures, SIEM/SOAR technology, automation, & infrastructure technologies, along with working knowledge of relevant modern development technologies such as Python, PowerShell, Markdown, Typescript, C#, Node.js, REST API/SOAP API protocols.

This position will report to the Somerset NJ or Austin TX office as determined by SHI management.

Responsibilities

Include but not limited to:

• Conduct research on the latest security trends and technologies.

• Develop and test new security features and service configurations.

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate security research findings into product development.

• Create prototypes and simulations to demonstrate service configuration and security technologyuse cases for advanced security postures surrounding SIEM/SOAR & Privileged Security.

• Documentation of research findings and product features.

• Stay up to date with advancements in security protocols, standards, and regulations.

• Create scalable structures that provide solution level guidance to software developers to enable scalable feature development.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Security, or equivalent experience

• Experience reading and writing technical specifications/documentation

• 2+ years experience in system administration or security research and development.

• 2+ years of experience working in the Identity, Security domains, and/or Automation domains.

• 1+ Years of experience implementing the Microsoft security suite and platform features.

• 2+ years of experience building or researching security solutions involving endpoint security, network security, or incident response.

Required Skills

• Demonstrates excellent spoken and written communication as well as receptive listening skills, with ability to present ideas in a clear, concise fashion to technical and non-technical audiences.

• Can adapt to shifting priorities, demands and timelines through analytical and problem-solving capabilities.

• Strong ability to work independently or in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.

• Ability to take initiative and prioritize tasks; good time-management, problem prevention, and problem-solving skills.

• Track record as a hands-on engineer designing and delivering solutions to meet complex design and architectural challenges in a cloud services environment.

• Deep practical experience implementing high-scale security services in production environments. Experience and opinions on what impacts security architectures have on end users, common paths of compromise, and how to stop them.

Preferred Skills:

• Familiarity with other technology stacks and their security configurations is a strong plus, but not required.

• Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently on complex research projects.

• Hands-on experience with either the GitHub, Azure DevOps/TFS, or Jira preferred

• Highly proficient computer networking skills with a depth of knowledge in application-level protocols such as REST, SOAP, and Graph.

• Experience with the Node.JS runtime.

• Experience with various popular JavaScript frameworks such as: React.JS, Electron.JS, Redux Toolkit.

• Experience with Microsoft Security and compliance technologies such as Data Loss Prevention, Microsoft Defender for Endpoint, Microsoft Defender for Cloud, Microsoft Entra ID, Microsoft Sentinel, Purview.

• Excellent communications skills, comfortable presenting to large audiences and customers.

• Prior experience with security solution design & implementation of zero-trust architecture or equivalent.

• Prior experience building services which run on Microsoft Azure, Amazon Web Services, Google Cloud, Oracle Cloud Infrastructure, or IBM Cloud.

Additional Information

• The estimated annual pay range for this position is $90,000 - $140,000. The compensation for this position is dependent on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience, therefore, will vary from individual to individual. Benefits may include but are not limitedto,medical, vision, dental, 401K, and flexible spending.
