Senior Product Development Engineer

Our Seating & Positioning Product Development department, in Belleville, IL is now looking for a SENIOR PRODUCT DEVELOPMENT ENGINEER.

You will be responsible for design efforts pertaining to product development by ensuring product design requirements are met, verifying the product designs through testing, and documenting all design specifications required to produce the product.

Lead development of new seating and positioning products and support existing products through adherence to established design control processes and good engineering and documentation practices.

Provides technical leadership and oversight to ensure designs meet the product level requirements, participates and in many cases leads the collaboration of cross-functional teams including marketing and program management.

Primary accountability for the translation of business and customer needs into functional designs that meet established performance criteria, industry certification standards, and cost targets, performs pre-studies and technical feasibility analyses.

Participates in and often leads concept development, prototype builds and testing, is a key contributor in the concept down-selection process, documents component and product level technical requirements, utilizes engineering principles in design reviews, and achieves project KPI’s including time to market, aesthetics, ergonomics, user experience, manufacturability, etc.

You will be accountable for project results in terms of product design and performance, achieving cost targets, and time to market.

Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, biomedical engineering or related field.

3 – 5 years of related product design and development experience.

Experience in SolidWorks CAD 3D design or equivalent.

Knowledge in mechanical engineering, biomedical engineering or equivalent is needed.

Medical device industry experience is preferred.

Experience preparing technical documentation for patent submission a plus.

Medical device product development experience preferred.
