Amazon Data Engineer (Level 5), WW Ops Finance S&A in Bellevue, Washington

The WW Ops Finance S&A (Standardization and Automation) Planning team’s vision is to delight our financial stakeholders through improvements and simplifications to the financial planning process. To achieve this vision, we are in search of a talented technical leader and craftsman who builds robust data products that scales as well as client-facing features which are intuitive and simple to use.

Our team takes a world view of financial planning for all of Amazon and builds highly customized and seamless planning experiences for our global customers. This focus on the financial planning process requires working on different technologies and back-end platform systems in order to meet the needs of our customers. Our back-end systems are always available and guarantee that our customer’s will be able to use them during planning cycles. You will have a chance to understand and influence Amazon's technical approach to financial planning.

Our team is highly motivated and in need of an experienced data engineer who can take project's technical reigns and steer them in the direction of our vision.

As a Data Engineer, you will analyze large amounts of business data, solve real world problems, and develop metrics and business cases that will enable us to continually delight our customers worldwide. You will also work with a team of Product Managers, Business Intelligence Engineers, Data Scientists, and Software Engineers to automate and scale the analysis, and to make the data more actionable to manage business at scale. You will own many large datasets, production pipelines, automate anomaly detection model, ML data models, implement new data pipelines that feed into or from critical data systems at Amazon.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Work closely with senior engineers to model, implement data pipelines that feed into or from financial planning data systems.

  • Own the delivery of data modelling and data pipelines.

  • Management and execution against project plans and delivery commitments

  • Assist directly and indirectly in the continual hiring and development of technical talent.

  • Create and execute appropriate quality plans, project plans, test strategies and processes for development activities in concert with business and project management efforts.

The ideal candidate will be a leader, quick learner and be able to work independently. He/she should be able to operate in a very fast paced environment where time to hit market is super critical. The candidate will need to balance technical leadership and savvy with strong business judgment to make the right decisions about technology choices.

Basic Qualifications

  • 3+ years of data engineering experience

  • Experience with data modeling, warehousing and building ETL pipelines

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with AWS technologies like Redshift, S3, AWS Glue, EMR, Kinesis, FireHose, Lambda, and IAM roles and permissions

  • Experience with non-relational databases / data stores (object storage, document or key-value stores, graph databases, column-family databases)

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $105,700/year in our lowest geographic market up to $205,600/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered, equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
