The Opportunity

Nutanix is a global leader in the Cloud software market, companies around the world use our software to leverage a single platform to manage their IT infrastructure, at any location, at any scale for their private, hybrid and multi-cloud environments. The Product Design Team in Berlin is seeking an experienced Sr. UX Designer to define the end-to-end experience for our new product categories. You will have a great opportunity to solve interesting problems related to the modern day Cloud systems, and to closely cooperate with industry veterans who helped build Nutanix from a Startup to being one of the leaders in the area of Hybrid-Cloud solutions.

Nutanix Product Design Team

The Nutanix Product Design team is in charge of leading the UX/UI design of all Nutanix products, spread across three major geos. We are a part of the larger R&D organization, working in a setting where we need to understand customer needs and based on that understanding assist our development teams in their journey to build and improve our products. We regularly collaborate with Software Engineering, Product Managers, and many different Business units to solve challenges end to end. "Design" and "Customer centricity" is embedded into every step of our product cycle. Your Role

  • Plan and conduct customer research sessions to identify user needs;

  • Work side by side with PMs and engineering leads to formulate product requirements and user stories;

  • Design ownership of a soon to be introduced product category;

  • Craft the experience vision of products in line with the company’s strategy;

  • Create industry leading consumer grade UX/UI designs for our enterprise software suite;

  • Apply our internal design system, and collaborate with other designers across geos to further enhance existing UX patterns;

  • Provide regular feedback to other designers on developed concepts

  • Share your experience and mentor other team members on a regular basis;

  • Drive alignment with relevant stakeholders across the organization;

  • Present concepts to team members, stakeholders and executive leadership.

What You Will Bring

  • A strong design portfolio demonstrating innovation, craftsmanship, and leadership

  • Natural leadership & passion in guiding multiple designs and team members

  • Strong sense of ownership over an entire product experience journey for one or more product domains

  • Experience in processing highly complex problems, and creating simple and elegant solution proposals

  • Experience with motivating and driving consensus across multiple functions such as PM, Engineers, and Designers

  • Well-versed communication skills and experience in presenting mission, goals & rationale for design to multiple stakeholders and executive leaders

  • Ability to estimate design's technical feasibility and implications and propose solutions leading to convergence.

  • Passionate about staying up to date with design and technology trends to further optimize for simplicity

  • Ability to translate customer and competitive insights into product innovation

  • Experience in working with international teams in various time zones

  • Work effectively in a fast-moving environment, juggle multiple projects, and prioritize work

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Design, Interaction design, HCI, or related field with 6 or more years experience in enterprise or consumer space

  • Proficient language skills English is a must, German is a plus

  • Work Visa for Germany

About the Team

Meet the hiring manager, Nico Weckerle, Design Director

Nico has 25 years of international design experience on both B2B and B2C sides. Before joining Nutanix, Nico was VP of Experience Strategy at Deutsche Telekom, where he worked with a large international team of UX and visual designers, software engineers, and product managers.

Nico joined Nutanix in 2018 and built the Berlin design team from the ground up. Together with his team in Germany and India, he currently leads the design efforts for our storage portfolio, platform security, and lifecycle management.

Nico is looking for a senior UX designer who is a team player and is passionate about creating outstanding product experiences while staying curious about our customers’ needs.
