JOB SUMMARY

An exceptional story is a foundation of good design. We curate the design of Marriott International’s Premium Distinctive Brands by combining storytelling with the essence of our Brands. Our design team is looking for great storytellers, passionate designers who can skillfully combine a creative mindset with strategic thinking.

At the project level, a successful Interior Design Manager provides design guidance via informal and formal reviews thru the lens of the brand and ensures that design standards are adhered to both programmatically and for quality. Candidates will work on both franchised and managed deals with internal and external stakeholders, fostering relationships in an atmosphere of collaboration, providing value to our owners, and achieving on strategy solutions. This is a unique opportunity to position yourself directly in the creation of the Lifestyle Brands with a primary focus on Westin, Le Meridien, Renaissance, and the soft branded collections of Autograph Collection and Tribute Portfolio.

CANDIDATE PROFILE

Education and Experience Required

  • 4-year degree from an accredited university in a related design discipline

  • Six or more years experience in the design field

  • Demonstrated ability to deliver results under difficult conditions

  • Knowledgeable about innovation & trends both in & outside of the industry

  • Strong business acumen

  • Problem solving & creative solution skills

  • Demonstrated ability to build & maintain strong working relationships

  • Demonstrated ability to negotiate and be flexible when appropriate

  • Strong organizational skills & demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities & resources

  • Sales orientation

  • Understands architecture documents and contract documents

  • Knowledge of FF&E specification software

  • Proficient in using Microsoft Office, scheduling, project & database mgmt. software (e.g., Microsoft Project, AutoCad, Bluebeam, Adobe)

Education and Experience Preferred

  • 4-year degree from an accredited interior design program

  • Six or more years experience in the hospitality design industry

  • NCIDQ certificate

CORE WORK ACTIVITIES

  • Serves as content leader on project.

  • Participates in establishing direction of brand design.

  • Selects and manages interior design consultants.

  • Develops and maintains liaison with all appropriate divisions, departments, and owners.

  • Provides awareness of interior design project budget and coordinating staff requirement with other business groups.

  • Provides project updates using tools to track and report status.

  • Presents and sells design to senior level executives and owners.

  • Reviews and/or develops interior design concepts.

  • Provides field input to product development group.

  • Manages project workload in support of brand or business unit growth goals.

Managing Work, Projects, and Policies

  • Coordinates and implements work and projects as assigned.

  • Complies with Federal and State laws applying to procedures.

  • Generates and provides accurate and timely results in the form of reports, presentations, etc.

  • Analyzes information and evaluates results to choose the best solution and solve problems.

  • Manages the flow of questions and directs questions.

Supporting Operations

  • Works with team to put sustainable work processes and systems in place that support the execution of the strategy.

  • Establishes and maintains complete and up-to-date information to ensure accurate reporting.

  • Represents team in resolving situations.

  • Maintains and manages inventory and service operations.
