Southern Company Electrical Foreman / Journeyman Electrician in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania

Summary

The Foreman assists the Project Manager in effectively overseeing and performing the construction of lighting projects. Projects may be lighting only or multi- disciplined projects in accordance with the established construction budget to ensure customer satisfaction and manage the quality of installation. He/she is responsible for managing the handling of material and labor to ensure timely and smooth-running project(s). He/she is responsible to assist in the training of Technicians and to set an example of excellence in work and attitude that will favorably affect all personnel on the project.

Qualification Requirements

Shift work and extensive travel is expected. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements below are representative of the knowledge, skills and abilities required.

Minimum Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED

  • Ability to obtain OSHA 10 or OSHA 30

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Is available to assist the Lighting Project Supervisor with the training of lighting technicians.

  • Capable of installing UL Types A, B and C TLED retrofit measures, reflector kits, new fixture installations, new MC power cable to new fixtures, installing and commissioning occupancy sensor controls, CAT5 cabling and connections, and assisting in light EMT conduit

  • Strong verbal communication skills.

  • Follow material installation instructions

  • Work efficiently in Microsoft Word, Excel, Project, Adobe and EDMS.

  • Ensure safety practices are followed and the work is performed in a safe productive manner.

  • Effective communication with PowerSecure management and customer representatives.

  • Timely completion of all required tasks.

  • Maintain accurate and complete written documentation.

Supervisory Responsibilities

Technicians

Essential Functions

  • Maintain and follow the construction schedule.

  • Track and account for all material and equipment on site.

  • Walk project after work is complete with work order to obtain accurate count and verify quality of the work.

  • Work with the customer PM, PowerSecure PM and Division Director to resolve issues that arise.

  • Manage and train technicians to understand and utilize EDMS, codes, paperwork and installation tasks.

  • Ensure all recycling procedures and packaging are followed.

  • Prepare daily reports for clients and file appropriately.

  • Enter construction data in a timely manner.

  • Review and approve project invoices and include supporting documentation as needed.

  • Appropriate cleanup of all construction areas at the end of each workday.

  • Submit monthly (at minimum) credit card coding in a timely manner.

  • Respond to inquiries in a timely manner. Communicate timing.

Physical Demands

Climbing (ladders), kneeling, reaching, balancing, lifting (up to 40 pounds regularly), working overhead.

Work Environment

Environment can vary greatly including indoors and outdoors in various climates including conditioned and unconditioned spaces.
