Anoka County Senior Career Counselor (Hybrid) in Blaine, Minnesota

Job Posting End Date: May 28, 2024 at 11:59pm CST Hiring range: $60,819.20 to $72,966.40 ($29.24 to $35.08 per hour). Starting rate will depend on experience, education, and qualifications. Position Description The Anoka County Job Training Center's mission is to contribute to the success of individuals and employers through workforce development services. The department is seeking Senior Career Counselors, who manage complex caseloads and provide job placement services for individuals and families that are unemployed or underemployed. Senior Career Counselors may assist with any of the following employment service programs:Minnesota Family Investment Program (MFIP), Diversionary Work Program (DWP), Dislocated Worker (DW), Workforce Investment and Opportunity Act (WIOA) Adult Program and Pathways to Prosperity (P2P). As a Senior Career Counselor, you perform work under minimal supervision while possessing a comprehensive working knowledge of subject matter, handle complex issues and problems associated with career counseling, and refer only the most complex issues to higher-level staff. These are full-time, exempt, hybridpositions. Interviews will take place the week of June 10th, 2024 for those selected to move forward in the hiring process. Pay & Benefits Salary: $60,819.20 to $72,966.40 ($29.24 to $35.08 per hour). 2024 Anoka County Salary Schedule Grade 32. $60,819.20 to $85,113.60 ($29.24 to $40.92 per hour). 24 days of paid flexible time off and up to 12.5 paid holidays. Advancement/professional development opportunities. Work Location This position will work at Blaine Human Services Center, located at 1201 89th Ave NE, Blaine, MN 55434. This position may be eligible for flexible work arrangements, including hybrid work, with some days working remotely and some days working in the office. Expected work hours are Monday - Friday 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. Job Duties and Responsibilities Examples are not all inclusive and are intended to be illustrative of primary responsibilities of an Anoka County Senior Career Counselor. Manage complex cases and provide services for families with multiple employment barriers and varying educational level. Career Counseling. Guide clients through the completion of aptitude, personality, and adjacent tests. Score clients' responses to pertinent items and confer with them about the results. Propose career-related options. Conduct assessment, career exploration, employment goal setting and development of employment plans. Coordinate special programs including classroom training, special needs counseling and adult basic education. Conduct group workshops on a variety of topics, including writing resumes and cover letters, successful job interviewing, using university employment databases and career development resources. Ensure accuracy and maintain case records. Analyze data to make assessments of eligibility and employability. Provide job leads, interview preparation, application, and resume support. Communicate with clients to encourage progress towards goals. Monitor progr m compliance for public assistance and/or employment services programs. Provide leadership, coaching, and/or mentoring to peers. Qualifications and Requirements: Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Needed Bachelor's degree and at least four years of job-related experience. In lieu of the required education, an equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted on a year-for-year basis. Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Needed Degree in psychology, human resources, social work or related field. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Experience with State of Minnesota's Workforce One (WF1) and MAXIS applications. Knowledge of workforce development programs including Minnesota Family Investment Program (MFIP) Diversionary Work Program (DWP) Dislocated Worker (DW) Workforce Investment and Opportunity Act (WIOA) Adult Program Pathways programs (P2P) Physical Demands and Work Conditions Standard office environment. Vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, and the ability to adjust focus, such as to work on computers. Ability to see colors, shades, and brightness. Hearing abilities required for general and phone communication, signals, and machine sounds. Assignments are sedentary, occasionally alternating between sitting, standing, walking, crouching, and kneeling as required to perform job responsibilities. Frequent wrist and finger manipulation to complete computer work. Occasional lifting of 10-20 lbs. Equipment used includes computers, phones, and standard office equipment. Occasional travel to other county work sites as needed. Travel between work sites may require driving a county vehicle and/or a personal vehicle.
