Description Seasonal Part-Time Combo Position Security on Fridays and Saturdays until the end of October with a rate of $20 an hour. This position is also be a part-time ShuttleDriver with a rate of $14 an hour. By securing a position with us you will be awarded up to $1,000 in incentives paid throughout your first year! Incentives will be awarded after 30 days of employment, 90 days of employment, and lastly after 6 months of employment. Job Overview: Performs protective and enforcement functions in a courteous and restrained manner in coping with emergencies, undesired conduct, disturbances, and threats to life and property to maintain a safe and secure environment. The work schedule will mostly be weekends and overnight. Responsibilities and Duties: Spend the majority of the shift on foot patrol, walking, and climbing stairs of the interior and perimeter of the hotel to observe and identify potential security and safety risks or undesirable conditions. Requires verbal communication using a pager and two-way radio, bending, stooping, and kneeling as in performing CPR. Maintain order in the hotel, dealing with the welfare of guests, e.g. assisting with door lock problems; coordinate, expedient response to emergency conditions such as fire, safety hazards, and threats to life and/or property in a calm, rational, and persuasive manner. Handle undesired conduct, and violations of hotel policy and civil laws as warranted for the security and safety of hotel guests, employees, patrons, and property. Answer security telephone and safety hotline calls and respond in a timely manner based on priority. Observe the CCTV monitors for any unusual activity and in the case of suspicious behavior report directly, via radio, to the supervisor on duty; report any alarms similarly. Use a clear, concise speaking voice, listen with empathy, provide accurate information, and document legibly all appropriate incident information. Memorize and monitor the life safety system installed at the property including the layout of the entire building, alarm pull stations, and location of fire extinguishers and sprinklers. Comprehend and abide by all traffic regulations while transporting customers to and from the airport terminal or other designated site. Remain calm and alert, especially during emergencies or heavy hotel activity, and handle complications from driving in the local community. Listen, understand, and respond immediately to customer and employee inquiries and requests for assistance. Greet customers with a friendly and sincere welcome. Lift luggage, packages, and boxes from cars, buses, vans, and carts, placing items on the ground, onto baggage carts, conveyors, or other vehicles. Clearly communicate the features, and services of the hotel facilities. Maintain an alert and attentive demeanor. Maintain cleanliness of the hotel vehicle by cleaning and washing it when appropriate. Take vehicle for periodic servicing and fueling as required. Other duties as assigned such as assisting as Door Person or Bell Captain when necessary. In addition to the performance of the essential functions, this position may be required to perform a combination of the following supportive functions, with the percentage of time performing each function to be solely determined by the supervisor based upon the requirements of the hotel: Check employee packages as they exit to ensure no food or property is being removed. Screen persons entering this entrance for purpose and authorization. Receive, record and store lost and found items. Research and respond to inquiries from guests concerning status of items. Mail out claimed items to owner. Provide accurate information to inquirers for directions, hours of operation, etc. Escort guests and employees as required to parking lots, provide same for employees carrying house banks. Assist guest with door lock problems using moderately complex hand-held electronic apparatus. Performs other duties as assigned. Specific Job Kn wledge and Skills: The individual must possess the following knowledge, skills and abilities and be able to explain and demonstrate that he/she can perform the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation. Thorough knowledge of the layout of the building, function rooms, and some knowledge of the city and surrounding areas. Ability to effectively deal with internal and external customers, some of whom will require high levels of patience, tact, and diplomacy to defuse anger and collect accurate information. Ability to listen effectively, speak, read, and write clearly to ascertain and document important information. Ability to stand, walk and/or sit and continuously perform essential job functions for the duration of the shift. Hearing and visual ability to observe and detect signs of emergency situations. Perform tasks requiring bending, stooping, kneeling, and walking significant distances between and within buildings on the property. Ability to follow written and or verbal instructions. Ability to grasp, lift and/or carry or otherwise move goods weighing a maximum of 200 lbs. Sufficient manual dexterity in hands. Ability to climb stairs and ladders at a rapid pace. Ability to perform duties within extreme temperature ranges. Qualifications: Any combination of education and experience equivalent to graduation from high school or any other combination of education, training, or experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities. Prior law enforcement or other military experience preferred. CPR certification and First Aid training preferred. All employees must maintain a neat, clean, and well-groomed appearance (specific standards available). Prefer additional language ability.
