The Manufacturing Engineering (ME) role leverages advanced area knowledge to optimize area performance and reduce cycle time. The ME collaborates with shift operations and engineering teams to expedite product movement and react to process issues that could impact quality. Additional responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Safety & Quality
Completes all required safety training and conducts all work in accordance with Micron and Technology Development (TD) safety policies
Follows all safety and environmental procedures to ensure compliance with applicable regulations
Reports all safety-related concerns or problems immediately to the appropriate individual
Performs audits and submits good catches on safety issues
Follows proper change management practices to ensure safety and quality expectations are met
Adheres to tool documentation/reaction mechanisms and submits updates to content when needed
Leading or coaching the team through required Safety Audits and submits good catches and work orders to resolve any potential safety concerns
Communication/Teamwork
Communicates proactively with MDE/ODE shift leaders to ensure daily priorities are coordinated
Leads efforts with shift team to sustain and improve execution to Key Performance Indicators (Area KPIs)
Collaborates with Area Manager and MDE Shift Manager to support the MT Skill Climb Business Process.
Collaborates with Manufacturing Technicians and key stakeholders to create Best Known Methods (BKMs) to implement across shifts
Partners with 1st shift teams to resolve tool/process setup issues maximizing workstation output
Communicates quality concerns that could cause product excursions or defects
Partners with 1st shift MDE and shift team to ensure existing process hold impacts are minimized
Project Management/Planning
Leads area continuous improvement projects to ensure deliverables are completed within scope and on schedule
Leads meetings to coordinate project activities, track actions, and communicate progress to stakeholders
Maintains shift responsibilities effectively along with continuous improvement projects
Lead innovation efforts by analyzing manual business processes and working to develop automated solutions using Smart Manufacturing tools (CAF, UiPath, AMI and ARM)
Technical/Data
Uses data analysis skills and advanced understanding of process/equipment interaction to identify the root cause of chronic issues and takes action to prevent reoccurrence
Analyzes SPACE data and responds to OOC conditions using area troubleshooting guides
Proactively communicates with PDE and 1st shift process owners to execute complex SWRs, DOEs, and tickets
Engages in interrupted lot disposition and coordination of rework/touch-up/recovery actions
Coordinates area targeting and process qualifications requirements
Participates in User Acceptance Testing (UAT) of new systems and provides feedback prior to implementation
Coordinates the recovery and release of equipment from scheduled maintenance or qual failures by analyzing data (SPACE, Klarity, E3, ETO, RTR)
Coordinates disposition of quality impacts using the QDR system, follows up on actions to close out QDR
Analyses data to make recommendations and implement changes to qual system requirements
Investigate and respond to E3 flags
Address auto stage failures caused by incorrect GeRM parameter settings or tool recipe setup issues (Recipe File Management (RFM))
Fab Performance
Applies manufacturing science concepts to analyze workstation performance concerns
Partners with MIE team to develop reports needed to manage area performance or support project initiatives
Engages in blocked WIP Pareto reduction activities
Analyze and optimize area queue times to reduce cycle time and breaches
Understand and execute to redundancy options to address constraint workstations
Support shift MPEO activities to reduce manual touches
Ideal team member will have the following qualifications:
Intermediate PC skills including a familiarity with MS Office Word, Excel, PowerPoint
Advanced understanding of area process and equipment
Advanced understanding of area process quality control systems (Qual System, SPACE, Targeting…others)
Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to efficiently organize tasks and projects
Strong partnering and teamwork skills
Basic understanding of the Fab process areas including area processing equipment
Strong understanding of SPC principles
Strong understanding of the use and risks of GeRM
Proven ability to communicate and present effectively
Intermediate data extraction, analysis, and reporting skills
Proven ability to multi-task in a high-paced environment
Proven ability to troubleshoot complex problems and address root causes
Strong analytical problem-solving skills
Proven time management, organization, and prioritization skills
Experience or knowledge in one or more scripting, programming and visualization tools (i.e. Python, Java, Tableau, Matlab, Microsoft Suite)
Advanced problem-solver – understanding of data, good data intuition and data visualization skills
Experience or knowledge of data collection, warehousing systems, and data cleansing
Hands-on experience in the field of data analytics, preferably with experience querying databases
Education and Experience
- External Hires: Relevant BS degree required and 2+ years Manufacturing Engineering Experience is preferred
