The Mahurin Honors College at Western Kentucky University (WKU) invites applicants for the position of Coordinator, Student Services and Outreach. WKU is a progressive, proactive institution that seeks candidates possessing the same qualities. The Mahurin Honors College seeks an ambassadorial person to manage daily recruitment operations, including but not limited to incoming freshmen, current and transfer students, and other targeted populations. The position reports to the Assistant Director, Enrollment and Brand Management in The Mahurin Honors College at WKU. Anticipated starting date is July 1, 2024.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

The following are customary for this position, but are not to be construed as all-inclusive. Duties may be added, deleted, and assigned based on management discretion and institutional needs.

  • Serves as a recruitment asset and the initial point of contact for prospective students and parents interested in The Mahurin Honors College

  • Coordinates the VIP Visit program and VIP Visit Days for Honors eligible prospective students

  • Attends various recruiting events coordinated by the Office of Admissions to attract high-achieving students to WKU

  • Serves as an advisor of HonorsToppers, the Honors student ambassador organization

  • Assist in planning and facilitating various special events and other projects as assigned whose aim is to increase MHC community success and retention. Examples include the annual H4 first-year orientation retreat and first-year honors Topper Orientation Program (TOP) and events that increase community adhesion (e.g. pancake night, alumni events).

  • Assist with running workshops (e.g. advising, CE/T support)

  • Continuously evaluate student activities/programs, services, and initiatives to enhance the MHC experience while fostering community relationships

    Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree in an academic field from an accredited institution

  • Excellent communication skills (verbal and written) with attention to customer service

  • A strong work ethic under minimal supervision, including attention to detail, time management, ability to work in metric-driven unit, and multi-tasking abilities

  • Excellent computer capabilities, including experience with social networking or media

  • Willingness to travel/work irregular and flexible hours, including occasional evenings and weekends

  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.

    Additional Information:

Salary Range: $19.49 - $21.54/hr
