Job Summary

At our GKN Filton site, we specialise in the design and manufacture of large complex structural wing assemblies, detailed metallic components and wing systems for a combination of both civil and military aircraft.

We have an new exciting and career defining opportunity for a Manufacturing Tooling Engineer to join the team. The succcessful applicant will perform a variety of engineering duties in planning and modifying fixtures, tools and manufacturing processes. We're looking for someone with the ability to resolve production issues in a timely manner completing all documentation on assigned parts.

How You'll Contribute

  • Develop, evaluate, improve and documents Tooling processes

  • Develop and implement process control techniques including work instructions using tools such as SPC, PFMEA

  • Analyse Tooling process flows continually for the improvements of quality, cost reduction, lead-time reduction for new work

  • Collaborate with other functions to ensure effective Tooling solutions

  • Coordinate Tool inspection procedures with multifunctional teams

  • Address and document cause and corrective action issues to prevent future problem occurrences

  • Determine required material and tools to meet manufacturing demands

What You'll Bring

The successful applicant will be proactive in their approach and seek out opportunity to contribute, the ability to communicate with a variety of stakeholders is also an essential part of this role.

In addition, you'll need the following skills

Essential:

  • Relevant plant tooling experience

  • Proficient IT skills (ideally ERP system, Office packages etc)

    Desirable:

  • Tool making experience

  • Experience in a similar role
