How will you make a difference?

As an experienced engineer with good working knowledge of both mechanical engineering and electrical power principles with focus on design and development of charging products used on electric transportation vehicles.

What do we want to know about you?

  • Associate’s or bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or related engineering discipline required.

  • 2 years + related experience in electromechanical product design.

  • Experienced in designing parts, assemblies, and drawings for commercially launched products

  • Use of 3-D modeling software (Solidworks prefered) to develop new parts and assemblies

  • A good understanding of manufacturing processes and corresponding capabilities including machining, sheet metal, welding, casting, molding and design for assembly.

What will your typical day look like?

  • Responsible for product design, CAD modeling, creation of detail and assembly drawings, bills of material and related production documentation

  • Design work ranges from small sheet metal or machined components to complex, motorized top level assemblies comprised of numerous subassemblies and component parts. Designing product packaging and fixtures may also be needed.

  • Create 3D models and drawings in parametric-based CAD software (Solidworks is preferred)

  • Understands functional and manufacturing-based challenges with new designs and participates in design reviews and problem-solving exercises.

  • Generates creative solutions; Translates concepts and information into images; Uses feedback to modify designs; Applies design principles; Demonstrates attention to detail.

  • Applies knowledge of ANSI drafting standards, Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing to define part or assembly features and fits.

  • All other duties as assigned.

What about the physical demands of the job?

  • Must regularly lift and /or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.

  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include Close vision, Distance vision, Peripheral vision, Depth perception and Ability to adjust focus.

  • While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to sit. The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and talk or hear.

  • During visits to areas of operations, may be exposed to extreme cold or hot weather conditions. Is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, and loud noise.

You may also be asked to perform other duties outside of your function or trade, for which adequate training will be provided if necessary.
