Position Title: Senior Energy Engineer

Hours: Monday – Friday, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, 40 Hours/ Week

Summary of Duties: Perform and supervise preliminary and detailed facility audits to identify Facility Improvement Measures (FIMs) and opportunities. Coordinate and lead facility sites visits. Communicate with outside vendors, including Contractors, Electrical Contractors, Mechanical Contractors, and General Contractors, as it pertains to FIMs. Assist sales in the identification and qualification of potential performance contracting projects. Develop preliminary and final performance contracting proposals. Analyze blueprints and perform site surveys to identify mechanical, electrical, energy resiliency, building envelope, process, and controls systems to determine facility operational characteristics. Apply energy simulation programs to develop energy, water conservation, cooling, and heating load-building models using modeling software. Develop design concepts concerning recommended FIMs, including descriptions, savings potential, cost estimates and data to verify FIMs. Prepare financial models related to repayment, including Return on Investment (ROI), life cycle costs and internal rate of return. Evaluate energy supply-side savings, opportunities, co-generation, water conservation, and renewable technologies for inclusion into performance contracts. Create measurement and verification plans and assist with performance contracting contracts. Monitor project performance, particularly those that guarantee savings. Assist in measurement and verification plan development and ongoing support. Approximately 25% domestic travel required to customer sites in Maryland, Pennsylvania, or Virginia. Remote work permitted when not at customer sites.

Qualifications: The position requires a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Energy Engineering, Engineering Management, or a related field and five (5) years of experience in the job offered, as a Consulting Engineer, Mechanical Engineer, Project Engineer, or an acceptable alternate occupation. Will accept a Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Energy Engineering, Engineering Management, or a related field and three (3) years of experience in the job offered, as a Consulting Engineer, Mechanical Engineer, Project Engineer, or an acceptable alternate occupation

The position requires experience with the following: Experience with identification of ECMs and preparation of project reports and other technical documentation; Experience with standard ASHRAE Level I and II audits, energy calculations, energy benchmarking, and energy modeling; Experience with IPMVP measurement and verification methodologies; Experience with building commissioning; Experience with submitting utility rebate applications for clients. Approximately 25% domestic travel required to customer sites in Maryland, Pennsylvania, or Virginia. Remote work permitted when not at customer sites. The following License and Certifications are required: Professional Engineer (PE) license; Certified Energy Manager Certification (CEM); Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification.
