MMT Senior Mechanical Research and Development Engineer in C, Ireland

Job Title: Senior Mechanical R&D Project Engineer Job description: The Senior R&D Engineer will work with other colleagues and departments to develop and deliver automated projects to meet customer requirements from concept, design, prototype, test and debug systems in accordance with established policies, goals, and objectives. Must have the ability to motivate others to reach timelines and deliverables while making sound technical decisions, prioritize project deadlines, follow up and complete critical items; required to quickly generate design concepts, narrow down, and select the best option through an appropriate mix of analysis and prototyping. Main Tasks: Working with the PD group on small automation projects, providing fast turnaround independently of larger project cycle. (Design, specification, Build, Test, Report, and customer interaction) Application of technical engineering input, during design on medium to large projects including concept development, components selection for projects – providing efficiency & cost savings. Prototyping POP projects, especially those which are customer funded, providing fast turnaround independently of normal workflow. Interpret & develop appropriate documentation required for regulated industrial projects. (e.g. POP Report, URS, FAT etc.) Help prepare project plans, specifications, and schedules for new project development. On-time delivery of projects within budget. Specification & sourcing of suitable components from external equipment suppliers and liaising with sub-contract suppliers. Utilize 3D CAD in design of equipment. Design of equipment to meet CE requirements. Hands on involvement with all departments during, build, setup, debugging, and testing of new equipment to ensure design meets performance and customers specifications. Liaise with electrical and control engineers to ensure design compatibility. Interacting with customer throughout the project life cycle. Qualifications: A formal qualification in Mechanical Engineering minimum degree level or equivalent with sufficient level of experience. Experience: 10+ years’ experience as an engineer in the automation OEM industry. Must have a demonstrated ability for effectively and clearly communicate concepts, ideas and knowledge to other individuals and teams. Must have strong analytical and problem-solving skills, as well as a good background in the automation machine development process. SolidWorks 3D CAD experience, Industrial machine/fixture/automation design experience Experience in writing & working with technical documentation to meet regulated industrial standards. Experience in working to a structured project management system.
