GE Vernova Engineer – Aero Gas Turbines in Carrara, Italy

Job Description Summary

The Aero Gas Turbine Engineer will be responsible to lead all the technical activities inside the Avenza LM Service Shop, for the engines that will be assigned to him/her. He/she will manage also special tools design and industrialization. Avenza LM Service Shop is a provider of overhaul services on LM Aero-derivative gas turbines: LM2500 (derived from GE aero engines CF6-6 and CF6-50), LM6000 (derived from CF6-80/C2 and CF6-80/E1) and LM9000 (derived from GE90-115B).

The Aero Gas Turbine Engineer will report to the Engineering Manager – Gate 0 Leader.

Job Description

Essential Responsibilities

Before engine induction:

  • Creation of engine specific work scopes

  • Create all the shop routers to make shop operations ready for engine induction

During engine disassembly (Gate 1):

  • Lead incoming inspection at engine induction

  • Review of engine disassembly, answering to Shop operators/Foreman's technical questions

  • Inspect and define the status of each part: Clean & inspect/ Ship to repair/ Scrap.

  • Based on parts status, define extra-works that are needed from a technical standpoint

  • Create the “Visual Inspection Report” to be discussed with Customers in order to show the status of the engine after disassembly and agree on the final work scope.

  • Deal with Customer technical visits to Avenza LM Service Shop During engine re-assembly (Gate 3) and engine testing (Gate 4):

  • Support Gate 3 team on any technical issue that might rise during engine re-assembly

  • Support to engine testing troubleshooting of issues linked with Service Shop activities

  • Create the “Final Report” in order to document all the activities done on the engine.

  • Support to field troubleshooting of issues linked with Service Shop activities

  • Strategic Initiatives:

  • Write Procedures and Assembly forms as part of Continuous Improvement Journey

  • Support New Product Introduction on new engines overhaul

  • Support New Technologies Introduction, such as Component Repair Engineering

Qualifications/Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical/Aeronautical Engineering (or Technical High School Diploma with 5 years of experience)

  • Basic knowledge of Mechanics is required

  • Ability to read mechanical drawings

  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills

  • English fluency

  • Ability to synthesize complex technical information

  • Be a Solution-oriented problem solver

Desired Characteristics

  • Basic knowledge of Turbomachinery Mechanics would be a plus

  • Previous knowledge/experience of Aero-derivative gas turbine products, especially on LM2500, would be a plus

  • Previous knowledge/experience of Aero-engines, especially on CF6 or GE90, would be a plus

  • Previous experience dealing with Customers would be a plus

  • Ability to interact with all levels of the organization: from shop operators to Executives

  • Strong attention to details
