We’re looking for a Data Engineer to join a premier law firm in our Chicago office, on a hybrid basis. We’re specializing in financial services, dedicated to providing top-tier legal advice and support to a diverse range of clients. Our team of professionals is committed to excellence, innovation, and client-focused solutions. We are seeking a skilled Data Engineer to join our dynamic team and help us enhance our data infrastructure and capabilities.

As a Data Engineer, you will play a critical role in transforming complex data into actionable insights as a part of our multi-year data migration into Microsoft Fabric. You will play a pivotal role in designing, developing, and maintaining our data systems. You will work closely with our legal and financial teams to ensure that our data architecture supports robust analytics and reporting. Your expertise will drive our data strategy, including the migration of data systems to Microsoft Fabric, and ensure data quality, scalability, and performance.

Contract Duration: 6 – 12 Months Required Skills & Experience

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Engineering, or a related field.

  • Experience:

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in data engineering or a related role.

  • Proven experience with data migration projects, specifically into Microsoft Fabric, is highly preferred.

  • Experience in the financial services sector or legal industry is a plus.

  • Technical Skills:

  • Proficiency in SQL and experience with relational databases.

  • Strong programming skills in languages such as Python, Java, or Scala.

  • Experience with data pipeline and workflow management tools (e.g., Apache Airflow, Luigi).

  • Familiarity with cloud platforms (e.g., Azure, AWS, Google Cloud) and their data services.

  • Experience with data warehousing concepts and technologies (e.g., Snowflake, Redshift).

  • Knowledge of Microsoft Fabric and its integration capabilities is highly desirable.

  • Analytical Skills: Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities. Capable of designing solutions for complex data problems.

Desired Skills & Experience

  • Data Architecture and Design: Design and implement scalable and efficient data pipelines and architectures to support data integration, processing, and analytics.

  • Data Integration and ETL Development: Develop ETL processes to extract, transform, and load data from various sources into our data warehouse and Microsoft Fabric.

  • Microsoft Fabric Migration: Lead and support the migration of existing data systems to Microsoft Fabric, ensuring data integrity, performance optimization, and minimal disruption.

  • Data Quality and Governance: Implement data quality and governance frameworks to ensure data accuracy, consistency, and compliance with regulatory standards.

  • Collaboration with Stakeholders: Work closely with legal, financial, and IT teams to understand data requirements and deliver solutions that meet business needs.

  • Performance Optimization: Continuously monitor and optimize data systems for performance, scalability, and cost efficiency.

  • Documentation and Best Practices: Maintain thorough documentation of data systems, processes, and best practices. Ensure compliance with internal and external data policies.

  • Support and Maintenance: Provide ongoing support and maintenance for data systems, including troubleshooting and resolving data-related issues.
