CVS Health Sr. Decision Scientist – Data Product Developer in Chicago, Illinois

Position Summary:

Want to help drive the next level of growth at a leading national B2C healthcare brand, touching millions of prospects and members? We’re looking for go-to-market leaders to drive innovation and growth in CVS front store retail business, using consumer marketing, sales, and product design that leverages data science and consulting skills to help CVS acquire new customers.

You will help us take our front store experience to the next level, using your passion for problem solving, quantitative analysis, and analytic storytelling to identify, incubate, and deploy the next set of innovations to power the growth of tomorrow’s retail business!

You will have a strong background in data visualization (Tableau, ThoughtSpot, PowerBI), semantic layer development (Snowflake, Google Big Query, Azure Synapse), Model Development and Deployment (Snowpark, Google Vertex AI) and experience in Gen-AI deployment and strategy; and be able to talk across data technologies to coordinate development and QA of your data products.

This role involves utilizing BI analytics platform + Gen-AI concepts and features to create powerful descriptive, predictive, and prescriptive Self-Service Insights, while managing and collaborating with various business stakeholders to help them drive their business objectives with statistical models and frameworks.

One of the many projects you could be working on:

Develop a structural data approach with forecasting model enablement as a Senior Decision Scientist, to help business stakeholders determine the best solution to understand front store customers that builds on descriptive data and creates a Gen-AI approach to RAG (Retrieval-Augmented Generation) model deployment with integrated self-service features.

Key Responsibilities:

Product Development and Design:

  • Define and build products with an AI-First strategy mentality based off of available technologies and tools

  • Integrate product strategy with current focused model building teams across Pricing, Promo, Omnichannel and Marketing teams

  • Architect, develop and deploy integrated data products across semantic, curated, and visual data layers

  • Develop and design with data engineering teams semantic data layers within Lakehouse architectures to deploy across orchestration tools

    Business Stakeholder Management:

  • Collaborate with business stakeholders to understand their data needs and translate these into technical requirements.

  • Foster strong relationships with stakeholders to ensure alignment of data visualization efforts with business objectives.

    Problem Solving and Innovation:

  • Troubleshoot and resolve data product related issues.

  • Continually seek innovative ways to improve the effectiveness and usability of data visualization tools and systems.

  • Focus on continual innovation of data products to promote a Self-Service environment

    What we can expect from you:

  • You are a problem-solver at heart. You attack complex problems with techniques rooted in statistics and logic and have a comfort translating technical analytics problems into simple business solutions

  • You will act as a data product architect translating business needs into visual projects and actions

  • You can manage and lead a small team of developers and engineers that are product based

  • You are interested in mentoring more junior team members, shares insights across teams, and reviews work of junior team members

  • You understand key drivers of business value and being able to translate into business opportunities and frame them as analytical problems e.g., how to the grow business   

  • You have an understanding data engineering and/or visualization tools with experience in designing visual data including dashboards

    Required Qualifications

  • 3+ years of business experience leading product development with a track record of business impact in applied analytics and data science

  • 3+ years coding in SQL, Python, or similar

  • 3+ years' visualization development/integration experience with ThoughtSpot, Tableau or PowerBI

    Preferred Qualifications

  • Ability to communicate technical concepts and implications to business partners

  • Knowledge of advanced analytics tools, languages, and libraries to analyze large data sets from multiple data sources including SQL, Python and development IDEs

  • Experience working with Snowflake, Snowpark and ML deployment tools

  • Strong Experience with Microsoft Office Tools (Excel, PowerPoint, Word)

  • Front store or healthcare retail sector experience

    Education

    Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience in Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, Business Analytics, Economics, Physics, Engineering, or related discipline.

    Master's degree preferred

Pay Range

The typical pay range for this role is:

$97,335.00 - $206,000.00

This pay range represents the base hourly rate or base annual full-time salary for all positions in the job grade within which this position falls. The actual base salary offer will depend on a variety of factors including experience, education, geography and other relevant factors. This position is eligible for a CVS Health bonus, commission or short-term incentive program in addition to the base pay range listed above.
