[PERSONAL CARE AIDE

[Provide limited assistance with client care in the client's home under the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse. A Registered Nurse must confirm core competencies before any home assignment.

• Assist and administer bath (shower, tub bath, or sponge bath)
• Assist and perform mouth care, including dentures
• Assist and perform skin care, hair care, and nail care (file only; do not cut nails)
• Assist with dressing or undressing the client
• Assist with mobility with/without mechanical devices
• Assist with continence care
• Shave client (electric and safety razor)
• Assist with planning/preparing proper nutritional meals
• Demonstrate and assist with proper food handling and food storage
• Observe all universal precautions and infection control, and handwashing
• Recognize and report changes in the client's health and environment to the appropriate supervisor
• Recognize and report indicators of abuse, neglect, illness, etc., to the proper professional
• Demonstrate and assist with basic routine housekeeping tasks
• Assist in purchasing food, clothing, and other household items
• Launder, fold, and appropriately place clothing/linens
