Support local safety functions and assist units in interpreting, developing, implementing, enforcing, and monitoring safety management programs as mandated by Federal, State, local and ARC regulations, standards, and policies. Serve as professional safety resource to meet critical safety needs while supporting the ARC mission and lowering the cost of risk to the organization. May serve as liaison between field units, regulatory agencies and their representatives, and Headquarters to improve communication, enhance compliance and reduce liability. Provide support, development and/or leadership guidance to all volunteers. Perform all duties and responsibilities in compliance with standard operating procedures and other applicable Federal, State, and local regulations. Responsibilities 1. Provide oversight and guidance to assigned units in meeting regulatory compliance mandates under such governmental agencies, including but not limited to OSHA, EPA, DOT, and local fire protection agencies. May develop or conduct related training programs. 2. Evaluate the effectiveness of safety procedures and adequacy of compliance with Federal, State, and local laws. Analyze, report, and collect safety performance, property and casualty, or other loss data. May support implementation of any necessary actions resulting from performance statistics. 3. Support unit management in abating any imminent hazards and develop corrective action plans to prioritize and correct all hazards in a timely manner. 4. Provide guidance on or conduct routine audits and assessments for occupational safety, health and environmental management systems including but not limited to OSHA programs, DOT programs, waste management programs, chemical hygiene plans, exposure control plans, PPE management programs and fleet safety programs. 5. Unit-specific responsibilities within the scope of the job. 6. Responsibilities specific to the Facility Safety Center of Excellence (COE): Ensure environmental permits are submitted on time. Including Regulated Medical Waste, Tier II, etc. Provide safety oversight for construction and renovation projects. Develop operations & maintenance plans for the safe management of environmental hazards.
