Job Summary and Qualifications

Under the general direction of the Quality and Risk Directors, the Sepsis Coordinator serves as a resource for patient safety initiatives throughout the organization. Promotes pertinent and timely resolution of actual and potential patient safety concerns. Leads the development and implementation of National Patient Safety Goals and other patient safety programs. Provides data support (trending and analysis) for performance improvement, accreditation and regulatory projects, including nursing dashboard.

Position Responsibilities

  • Performs concurrent core measure chart review and retrospective in-depth analysis of medical records for purpose of core measure performance.

  • Form development and revision to ensure staff compliance with core measures

  • Just-in-time staff and physician education

  • Compiling and analyzing core measure data

  • Leads or facilitates Core Measure PI Teams and serves as a resource for hospital-wide Core Measure program.

  • Reporting of core measure data to appropriate Medical Staff Department meetings.

  • Mortality/complication cases review, provides accurate/reliable clinical analysis to support an effective medical staff peer review process

  • Conducts clinical reviews using critical thinking skills, approved criteria and clinical knowledge to identify opportunities for excellence in the quality and safety of patient care.

  • Performs all other duties as assigned.

What qualifications you will need:

  • Graduation from an accredited two-year college required;

  • Preferred - Graduation from an accredited four-year college

  • Hospital Nursing Experience - Minimum 3-years

  • Preferred – Five or more years in an acute care facility

  • Preferred - Experience in hospital Quality/Risk Management Department

  • Competent in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint & Outlook)

  • Preferred – Advanced Excel

  • RN with current licensure with the Texas Board of Nursing
