Roles & Responsibilities:

  • Working together with the design teams to determine the needs for operator activities while utilising methods like Task Analysis and Allocation of Function.Creating criteria for Human Factors, along with related verification strategies, and collaborating with design teams to meet these goals.Completing trials to assist the design development and requirements verification while working as a member of an integrated design team to produce concepts for the client Control Rooms.Creating and refining customer and factory layouts, making sure operator characteristics are properly taken into account and integrated into the design of the factories, production cells, system and component modules, and the larger power plant. Assisting in the creation of the safety case by analysing recognised operator actions, identifying human error, and quantifying human error (Human Reliability Assessment).Providing ad hoc support to design teams, reviewing concepts that have been provided, and attending design reviews all help to inform the design development process. determining the amount and skill types of employees needed to operate the customer, as well as how best to optimise job design and role allocation while also assessing the training needs of these employees. Although each human factors engineer will be in charge of a specific aspect of the project, it is intended that engineers would assist with a variety of tasks that fall under the purview of the Human Factors Team. In addition to effectively integrating with other design teams, the human factors engineer must be able to gather relevant data on intricate systems and procedures and adequately handle conflicts between design and guidance requirements and human factors requirements. The human factors engineer must prepare reports and give conclusions in order to record important assessments and interact with authorities. It will be required of them to oversee their own department. During this phase, the Human Factors Engineer would specifically work on the following tasks: 1. Substantiating human-based safety and security claims in both quantitative and qualitative ways.2. Determining the necessary Indications and Controls and creating concepts for the Human-Machine Interface.3. Evaluations of the layout development to guarantee that the needs of human factors are taken into account.

Required Skills (Technical Competency):

  • Understanding how Human Factors may help the design and safety, security, safeguard, and environment case to maximise the operator's role requires an awareness of Human Factors methodologies and procedures and how they connect with the design. Practical knowledge of utilising tools and techniques from Human Factors to determine and validate the operator's involvement in a complicated system.Hands-on expertise in creating and assessing human-machine interfaces. Communication skills: the capacity to communicate with groups of people in the company to exchange advice and get information. able to voice opinions and speak up during meetings, such as design reviews. aware that suitable compromises must be made in order to produce a final design that best satisfies the criteria. Product knowledge: Knowledge of nuclear power plants, how they work, and how operators may contribute to a safe and secure operating environment.
