Description

When you are a Business Development Manager atCaterpillar, you will help grow the business profitably, via the development ofcustomer facing strategic initiatives; working closely with our miningcustomers to identify issues they are dealing with, while developing andproposing outcome-based solutions to help them with their success. You will be part of the fast growing MineStarSolutions organization, working alongside of key business partners, such asCaterpillar’s Technology & Innovation Group, and key Mining Product Groups.Furthermore, you will engage with our Dealers to help define the role they willhave in delivering the solution in conjunction with our MineStar Product Group.

JobDuties/Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Work in a timely fashion to define Statements ofWork with customers who you and the broader MineStar team have identified astarget accounts.

  • Execute the marketing and sales developmentprocess, which culminate in successful business proposals for our autonomyproducts and services, specifically for surface drilling.

  • Working with the Area Sales Team to manage theproposal through the sales process and driving business results.

  • Setting and attaining aggressive, profitablesales targets

  • Provide VOC input for requirements of futuredevelopment work coming into the MineStar Product Group.

  • Respond to requests for help from clients incomplicated design and development issues/problems (both long and short termand strategic or operational), define these problems, and structure acourse to develop a long-term vision for their business along with alternativeplans and solutions.

  • Understand the competitive landscape on aregional, market segment and technical competency basis, and provide market andcompetitive intelligence into the MineStar Commercial Team.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree from an accredited college or university in Business; Mine, Civil, Mechanical or Electrical Engineering

  • 10 years in commercial roles including sales, product requirements, marketing and solutions development

  • Worked in the surface drilling industry either for a mining company, OEM, or consultant

Top candidates will also have:

  • 5 years working in the drill –blast function within a surface mine

  • MBA

  • Soundmanagement, technical and commercial skills gained from a broad range ofassignments

  • Anunderstanding of the Caterpillar Surface Mining business and able to identifystrategic business opportunities that would fit within the enterprise.

  • Goodmanagerial and communications skills, with demonstrated ability to get resultsthrough people and ability to interact with internal and external parties at alllevels, including senior executives.

  • Bea strategic thinker; have initiative, outstanding verbal and writtencommunication skills, and strong interpersonal skills.

  • Bea boundary-less team player with excellent facilitation skills and have a highlevel of motivation and enthusiasm with unwavering integrity.

Additional Information:

This position requires up to 50% travel.

The position can be located in East Peoria, IL, Tucson, AZ, Denison, TX or working remotely from home in the United States of America.
