The University of Michigan-Flint Department of Public Safety (DPS) Police Captain is responsible for the overall management and supervision of the UM-Flint DPS. This position works closely with leadership from U-M Flint and DPSS to implement best practices for police and public safety in a university environment. Core responsibilities for this role include management of University resources, leadership in preventing crime and incidents, management of police and public safety personnel, implementation of community policing principles, and utilization of emergency management planning and training. The selected candidate will have demonstrated leadership experience working with external law enforcement agencies.

This position reports to the UM-Flint Chief of Police and requires flexibility in working various days and hours. Applicants must be willing to adjust their scheduled work days and hours based on the needs of the community and the responsibilities of the unit.
