Job Description / Qualifications

Job Summary

Responsible for removing obstacles which impede the branch goal of providing our customers with the best value and experience in the industry in an environment which prioritizes the safety of its associates. Accomplishes a safe environment through the education, implementation and maintenance of policies and procedures.

Major Tasks, Responsibilities and Key Accountabilities

Conducts annual inventory counts following all written procedures.

Ensures daily cycle counts are accurate and the due diligence of any discrepancy has been completed. Ensures inventory adjustments of $250 or more are authorized.

Ensures time sensitive cycle counts are conducted in an accurate and timely fashion following White Cap published procedures. Reviews Non-Stocks on a monthly basis confirming quantity, bin location, and expiry dates ensuring product is still required. Reviews Hold area on a monthly basis.

Works as a liaison with sales and the warehouse to create and maintain a repetitive and favorable customer experience. Ensures bin maintenance and orders are hitting target levels.

Works with the Warehouse Manager and Fabrication Supervisor to create and maintain a culture of safety for our staff and customers including the handling, storing, shipping, and disposing of dangerous goods and hazardous materials.

Ensures all White Cap initiated staff training is completed within the timeframe communicated. Ensures the onboarding of new employees is completed to ensure the success of new employees.

Ensures any deficiencies more than $2,000 are communicated to the Director of Operations (Canada) prior to taking actions to resolve. Ensures resolution of all incidents of nonconformance including customer generated, supplier, sales, warehouse, purchasing, or production.

Ensures the validity of all permits for the building including contents and equipment.

Ensures racking is free of damage and is structurally sound and secured. Ensures all damaged racking is replaced following safe work practices. Checks to ensure warehouse racking is clearly marked with the appropriate rating.

Ensures the branch follows the policies and procedures set out in ISO standards. Lead the ISO Audits for branch.

Ensures material handling equipment is maintained and the information documented on a prescribed basis.

Works with the Inventory Coordinator and branch administration to clean up all products residing in unavailable on a monthly basis. The ultimate goal would be to start each month with nothing in unavailable.

Nature and Scope

  • Experience provides solutions.

  • Ensures that work is performed consistently with company policies and procedures.

  • Leads a group or team of support, craft, or lower level professional associates.

Work Environment

  • Usually located in a comfortable environment but with regular exposure to factors causing moderate physical discomfort, such as dust, fumes, or odors.

  • Most of the time is spent sitting in a comfortable position and there is frequent opportunity to move about. On rare occasions there may be a need to move or lift light articles.

  • Typically requires overnight travel less than 10% of the time.

Education and Experience

Typically requires BS/BA in a related discipline. Generally 5+ years of experience in a related field. May require certification. Advanced degree may offset less experience in some disciplines.

Preferred Qualifications

Vocational/Technical School

3 to 5 years of experience

Experience in a technical environment

Effective leadership skills, with a strong focus on operations and business processes.
