Robert Half Staff Accountant in Gardena, California

Description We are on the lookout for a dedicated Staff Accountant to join our team in the non-profit industry. This role is based in Gardena, California. The primary responsibility of the Staff Accountant is to handle financial transactions, maintain accurate records, and ensure compliance with company policies and procedures.

Responsibilities:

• Accurately record and process journal entries for efficient month-end close

• Check and process expense allocation and journal entries for contracted programs

• Manage reconciliation of credit card transactions and handle returned checks

• Assist in preparing reports for governmental and tax compliance

• Support internal and external audits by providing necessary information

• Perform general clerical duties such as filing, photocopying, faxing, typing, scanning, and mailing

• Prepare correspondence, mailings, and priority shipments for the Finance Department

• Manage federal and state government accounts, maintain compliance, track deadlines, and submit requested information

• Support historically minoritized groups by addressing issues of equity and improving culturally responsive service-oriented practices

• Implement practices and principles related to the Agency’s Trauma-Informed Care goals and strategies

Skills:

• Proficiency in Accounts Payable (AP), Accounts Receivable (AR), Bank Reconciliations, General Ledger, Journal Entries, Month End Close

• Experience with NetSuite, Oracle, QuickBooks, SAP. Requirements

• Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience as a Staff Accountant or similar role in the Non-Profit industry

• Proficiency in Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR) management

• Experience with Bank Reconciliations and maintenance of General Ledger

• Familiarity with Journal Entries and Month End Close processes

• Proficiency in using financial software such as NetSuite, Oracle, QuickBooks, and SAP

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field

• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail

• Outstanding problem-solving and analytical abilities

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

• Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive financial information

• Proven ability to work independently and as part of a team.
