R&D Applications Engineer (Metals) - Greeneville, TN

Join our innovative team! We are a leading company in the development of cutting-edge zinc alloys and processes. We are seeking a dynamic and experienced R&D Applications Engineer to drive our efforts in creating groundbreaking materials for diverse applications, ranging from coinage to automotive fuses and architectural products. Reporting directly to the President, you will be at the forefront of conceptualizing, developing, and scaling new products, ensuring they meet the highest standards in the industry.

What you will do:

  • Innovation and Conceptualization: Spearhead the creation of novel materials for zinc alloys and zinc-based products, focusing on applications in coinage, cathodic protection, industrial and automotive fuses, building and construction, and architectural projects.

  • Product Scaling: Lead the scaling of new products and processes to the manufacturing level, guaranteeing a seamless transition with clearly defined critical parameters for consistent, reliable results.

  • Cross-Functional Leadership: Collaborate with diverse teams, including process engineers, quality assurance, sales, purchasing, and program management, to facilitate smooth coordination for successful product development.

  • Customer Interface: Engage with potential customers to understand their needs, effectively communicate our capabilities, and build lasting relationships.

  • Technical Support: Provide technical perspectives to ancillary groups such as manufacturing, marketing, and sales, ensuring a comprehensive understanding of the technical aspects in these areas.

  • Laboratory Development: Take charge of developing, creating, and testing new potential zinc alloys in our state-of-the-art alloy development lab.

  • Collaboration: Collaborate with the coinage lab to enhance products and processes for zinc and steel-based coins.

  • Presentation and Networking: Showcase lab development results internally and periodically to customers. Attend trade shows and conferences to stay abreast of advancements in zinc and electroplating, while building a strong professional network.

What you will need:

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Engineering in a relevant field (Master's degree a plus).

  • Experience: 5+ years of experience in product development, preferably in metals, with a metallurgical background highly preferred.

  • Industry Knowledge: Familiarity with heavy manufacturing environments, particularly in metals, and experience with quality systems.

  • Technical Expertise: Strong knowledge of chemistry and chemical safety related to metals and metal manufacturing.

Pay Details: $85,000.00 to $95,000.00 per year
