Position: Assistant District AttorneyLocation: Tompkins County, NYResponsibilities:As an Assistant District Attorney, you will play a crucial role in the pursuit of justice within our community. Your responsibilities will include:1.Prosecution: Effectively prosecute criminal cases, ranging from misdemeanors to felonies, in accordance with state and federal laws.2.Legal Research: Conduct thorough legal research to build strong cases, ensuring a comprehensive understanding of relevant statutes and case law.3.Courtroom Advocacy: Represent the State in court proceedings, presenting cases persuasively, and advocating for the interests of justice.4.Collaboration: Work closely with law enforcement agencies, victim advocates, and other legal professionals to ensure seamless coordination throughout the legal process.5.Case Management: Manage a caseload efficiently, from initial investigation through trial, while maintaining accurate and up-to-date case records.6.Community Outreach: Engage with the community through educational programs and outreach initiatives to promote understanding of legal processes and foster positive relationships, with a particular emphasis on building relationships with multicultural and multiracial communities. Utilizing knowledge and understanding of systemic issues within the criminal justice system to enhance community relationships and address disparities. Qualifications & Abilities:•Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.•Admittance to the New York State Bar.•Strong understanding of criminal law and legal procedures.•Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.•Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.•Prior experience in criminal prosecution is preferred but not required.•Demonstrated strong knowledge and understanding of systemic issues within the criminal justice system. •Ability to successfully work with multiracial and multicultural communities. •Ability to develop and maintain working relationships with diverse internal and external community members.
