The Sports Medicine Business Development Manager is responsible for leading and setting the strategic direction, clearly communicating a compelling vision, setting stretch goals and expectations, collaborating with key stakeholders and ultimately delivering outstanding sales performance through significant growth in SPM. Collaboration and strong engagement with Commercial sales team across South Africa will be crucial for the success of this role. This position plays a key role in the development of cross functional business strategies, while driving performance excellence in sales for Sports Medicine across South Africa.

What you will do:

  • Develop and maintain an SPM growth strategy and 5-year roadmap for South Africa

  • Lead the strategic sales process for SPM, setting key performance objectives in coordination with Endoscopy Marketing and Education and the Medsurg NSM

  • Oversee key interfaces and partner with appropriate teams (Marketing, Sales, Technical Services and Finance) in the introduction of new products & technologies

  • Ensure full strategic alignment with the franchise leaders

  • Manage the Stryker Sports medicine Teams, and ensure they are engaged and driven to achieve the aligned goals of Stryker

  • Provide leadership and focus to the SPM business by developing an effective working relationship with all key stake holders within the organization

  • Identify growth opportunities through market research, customer/stakeholder interviews, surveys, clinical trends, literature reviews, voice-of-customer feedback

  • Manage all PLCM aspects

  • Ensure transparency of the pipeline, including investments and returns from sales

  • Ensure accurate sales forecasts for both short and long term

  • Be commercially aware and monitor the market and gather competitive intelligence on new products, competitive strategies, industry tactics, and opportunities for business growth

  • Partner with divisional Marketing and R&D teams to provide direction regarding regional requirements for updates, line extensions and future products & technologies

  • Collaborate with the ENDO Product Manager on the development of AMPs and commercialization plans in each geography

  • Develop and implement successful product introductions across the region by closely partnering with Marketing in a matrix organization

  • Liaise with SPM commercial peers in EEMEA to share best practices and maximize synergies

  • Influence the P&L for SPM and Medsurg

  • Monitor business performance against budget and take corrective actions where necessary

  • Support operational efficiency of the business by building relationships with Supply Chain, Operations, Finance, and other relevant enabling functions

What You Need:

  • A Bachelor's degree is a mandatory minimum requirement

  • Proficiency in both oral and written English is indispensable; proficiency in other languages is considered advantageous

  • A minimum of 7 years of experience in Marketing, Sales, Market Development, or a combination of these fields is required

  • Demonstrated success in developing initiatives leading to substantial market share growth is essential

  • Proven track record of consistently meeting financial commitments over time

  • Experience in the Medical device industry and Market Development is highly desirable

  • Proficiency in developing and presenting business strategies

  • Demonstrated expertise in financial modeling and forecasting

  • Ability to cultivate effective working relationships with multi-disciplinary stakeholders is a prerequisite

  • Strong interpersonal and analytical skills, with the capability to manage multiple priorities successfully
