How will you make an impact in this role?

When you join the Developer Enablement team (DE), you're working with colleagues that are dedicated to helping our engineering community develop and deploy code faster and safer.

This role focuses on developer relations, providing hands-on engineering guidance and support to drive community adoption of the patterns, practices, and tooling that make up Building Software the Amex Way in the India market. In addition, the role will support the ongoing development of the technology learning experience platform, specifically "hands on exercises" for onboarding boot camps that will be used within a sandbox environment.

Leaders in this team, drive large multi-year programs focused on operationalizing the way code is designed and written at American Express. We provide a curated on-boarding learning experience to those joining our engineering teams with a goal of growing confidence.

As the primary contact for your market, you and your team will supervise and provide a strong and credible presence within specific internal communication channels (e.g. Slack) to promote and provide mentorship for engineers.

As the "voice of the engineer", you'll collaborate with teams that provide services and support in order to remove friction and improve product utilization. In addition, you'll support the market leadership team by inspiring growth mindset within the developer community.

"We have fun!" is one of our principles. You'll actively contribute and participate in adoption events and discussions (DevCons, Guild meetings, campus events, etc.)

Minimum Qualifications

Empathy for the challenges of software development and active curiosity about overcoming these challenges through software development, training and solution support.

Excellent oral communications with a passion for listening and helping engineers find solutions for their business needs and opportunities.

Superb networking skills and the ability to work cooperatively with and gain the respect of software developers and influencers.

Ability to give constructive feedback to engineering teams that are service providers, to increase product adoption and remove areas of friction.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience working with large team and mentoring peers and team members.

Phenomenal developer skills (10 years) on one of the popular programming languages (Java, Kotlin, Python, React.js, Node.js).

Knowledge of CICD and Agile practices. Understanding of Jenkins Pipelines or GitHub Actions would be preferred.

Experience advocating for engineers and helping them learn and use new technology.

Experience in monitoring and resolving queries raised via slack and/or other channels.
