Join our team! The City of Kentwood is seeking applicants for a Business Development Manager in the Parks & Recreation Department.

 

Pay and Benefits

The compensation range for this position is $60,252 - $80,747, dependent on qualifications and experience. Additionally, the City of Kentwood offers a comprehensive benefits package that includes a 12% employer retirement plan contribution, 11 paid holidays, three personal days, 12 sick days, and up to four weeks of vacation annually.

We're proud to be among the first municipal employers in West Michigan to offer a fully paid parental leave benefit. Our policy provides employees with four weeks of fully paid leave following birth, adoption or placement for adoption. Employees who give birth are eligible for an additional two weeks of leave for a total of six weeks fully paid.

We also offer competitive medical insurance with a 2% employee premium share, ranging from $8.22-$19.00 biweekly, as well as free telehealth visits. Employees enjoy no-cost dental insurance, vision coverage, a health savings account with an annual employer contribution ranging from $750 - $1,500, flexible spending account options and a generous retirement health savings plan. Position Summary

Reporting directly to the Parks and Recreation Director, main responsibilities for this role include project coordination and support for the Department Director, including department budget preparation. The Business Development Manager provides leadership and strategic vision to all aspects of the charitable fundraising activities for the department. Oversees the development of fundraising strategies and campaigns, establishes, and maintains contact with potential financial supporters, including private and public organizations. Identifies potential grant opportunities and oversees the preparation of proposals. Coordinates and supervises the work of office support staff to carry out program objectives. 

Our ideal candidate has Bachelor's Degree in public administration, recreation, (or a field related to the work) and at least five years of professional experience in parks and recreation program administration, two years of which were in a supervisory role.
