Blue Canyon Technologies Radiation Effects Engineer II in Lafayette, Colorado

Position Purpose: The Radiation Effects Engineer II will develop analysis methods to determine survivability and availability of components and spacecraft in harsh radiation environments. Prepares diagrams, charts, drawings, calculations, and reports to define radiation issues and make recommendations for improvements. The Radiation Effects Engineer performs exhaustive analysis, design, and test at the component, board, unit, and subsystem levels with extensive opportunity to interact with various spacecraft hardware and components.

Pay Range: $80,000 - $140,000

(Salary to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data.)

Job Responsibilities:

Develops radiation analyses as needed to support program deliverables. Develop radiation test plans. Coordinate radiation testing with 3rd party support for single event effect and total ionizing dose testing. Make recommendations for design, process improvements, and data collection. Work in coordination with the EEE parts Engineer and Reliability Engineer to understand overall probability of success based on mission environments. Communicate hardware radiation risks to Mission Assurance Managers and Program Managers. Participate in Material Review Board and Failure Review Board activities as required. Other responsibilities as assigned.

Required Qualifications/Education:

A bachelor s degree in engineering or equivalent discipline (e.g., math, physics, chemistry, etc.). 2+ years of experience. Previous work experience in radiation effects including modeling, testing, and/or analysis. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Familiarity and comfort with electronics schematics and circuit functions. Knowledge/experience in the effects of UV and atomic oxygen on materials and components. Knowledge/experience analyzing space crafting charging effects. Related technical experience may be considered in lieu of education.

Working Conditions:

This job operates in a professional office environment, but in a manufacturing company. This role uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, scanners, filing cabinets and fax machines.
