  • The role holder will be responsible for the entire Engineering team of B/E Aerospace Fischer GmbH, a part of Collins Aerospace and will assume the official role of Head of Design Organisation within the site’s EASA Design Organization Approvals as well as all associated regulatory responsibilities.

  • Based in Landshut, she/he will provide leadership for a team of approximately 30-40 people in several teams (Design, Project Engineering, Test, Certification, Stress, Airworthiness, and Sustaining Engineering, etc.) and will be responsible for integrating the Engineering resources assigned by the Engineering Teams from Collins Aerospace sites in Poland, India, and other external support locations.

  • The Engineering leader will support and work with the Landshut Value Stream Leader (VSL) and the other site functional/department leaders to ensure local engineering activities are coordinated and aligned with the business needs and direction.

  • The Engineering leader will work with the Collins Aerospace Executive and Specialty (EAS) Seating Engineering director and the other EAS Engineering site leaders to support engineering functional and EAS business initiatives at the portfolio and corporate level

Responsibilities

  • Leading the Engineering Team in Germany incl. the possibility to use capacity/competencies in other countries within the Collins Aerospace group.

  • Responsibility for the entire development process, including configuration & change management.

  • In-Service technical Engineering support, maintenance, and repair data.

  • Accountable for the entire lifecycle of the product.

  • DOA accountable to EASA and all customer certification approvals and requirements

  • Process optimization / standardization, driving efficiency and compliance.

  • Portfolio and Budget responsibility

  • Support 5yr strategic financial plan (SFP)

  • Establish yearly annual operating plan (AOP)

  • Monthly variance analysis and forecasting

  • Innovation management, e.g., technology & design, and manufacturing methods

  • Drive Project management and execution

  • Earned Value Management SPI/CPI

  • Work Breakdown Structure (WBS) definition

  • On-time deliveries and milestones

  • Mentorship of young technical talent and managers within the organizational structure.

  • Ensure safety and continued airworthiness of all products within the Helicopter Seating Portfolio.

  • Accountable for the Safety Management System for the Design Organisation under EASA Part 21.

  • Prepare and review all Technical bids and proposals to support business pursuits in accordance with Interiors Gate 2 and 3 requirements.

Skills and Experiences

  • Successfully completed studies (Dipl.-Ing. or Masters in Engineering).

  • Several years of experience and proven success in leading an engineering department of an aviation company.

  • Past experience and knowledge of the legal and regulatory responsibilities of an EASA compliant Design Organization.

  • Strong background and successful track record of leading large scale complex development projects from inception to completion.

  • Demonstration of excellent verbal and written English communication skills. German language knowledge highly preferred but not a requirement.

  • Demonstration of working level business / financial skills and experience to successfully manage a multimillion-euro department budget .

  • Demonstration of effective communication skills at the executive level.

  • Well established organizational development philosophy that can be previously demonstrated and clearly articulated.
