Lima/Allen County Regional Planning Commission Transportation Planning Intern in Lima, Ohio

FLSA Status: Hourly-Part Time- $20/hour (up to 20 hours/week)

Preferred Time Period: Summer 2024-Spring 2025

 

Definition:

An entry-level paid position responsible for a variety of planning projects involving the collecting, recording, summarizing, and interpreting of social, economic, geographic and engineering data, report writing, and information management. The position requires assisting senior professional staff with data collection, research in population, land use, traffic and housing, and assisting with transportation model analyses and conduct necessary model refinement.

 

Preferred Training and Experience:

  • Current student enrolled in a degree seeking program.
  • Education and/or past work experience in urban planning, engineering, geography, or a closely related field.

Preferred Knowledge and Skills:

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Interpersonal skills necessary to effectively interact with internal staff, citizens, and outside organizations.
  • Analytical abilities required to integrate and interpret data from various sources.
  • Effective writing skills to summarize data accurately and concisely.
  • Knowledge of the principles of research, standard statistical procedures, sources of planning information, and techniques used in the preparation of materials for presentation. 
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office and GIS preferred.

Description of Duties:

  • Perform necessary fieldwork as assigned.
  • Assist in compiling, analyzing, and maintaining agency databases.
  • Assist in the preparation of charts, illustrations, diagrams and maps.
  • Represent the LACRPC as required.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Executive Director.

     

Successful candidate must pass a background check, drug screening, and have a clean driving record.
