Woodstream Manufacturing Technician Intern in Lititz, Pennsylvania

 

SCOPE & BASIC FUNCTION: 

  • Manufacturing Technician Interns possess technical expertise. Interns will shadow Technicians to gain an understanding of the operation, with the goal of the ability to make simple adjustments while working alongside Technicians, assist in changeovers and maintenance of industrial equipment used to produce and package Woodstream products.

  • The Manufacturing Technician Intern is responsible for assisting Technicians with tasks set out by various supervisors and managers within the operations team to help support the short-term and long-term goals of the company within the manufacturing environment.

  • The Manufacturing Technician Intern will gain experience in high-volume industrial manufacturing while being introduced to manufacturing processes and equipment technology used to produce various products at Woodstream. 

  • Woodstream will aim to provide the Manufacturing Technician Intern with well-rounded experience to include hands-on, practical, and challenging tasks related to equipment and production. Focus on building a solid foundation of entry level skills and experience in industry will support future career success as a full time key technical individual at a manufacturing company.

  • Intern must be accompanied by a Technician III, Machinist III or Electrical/Electronics Technician at all times.

    INTERNSHIP ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assist Technicians with daily and weekly housekeeping tasks to include cleaning, inspecting, and lubricating machines.

  • Assist Technicians with scheduled preventative maintenance, changeovers, setup, and adjustment of machines.

  • Work with technicians, engineers, and documentation specialists to create SOP’s.

  • Perform tasks related to inventory control and management. Tasks could include retrieving parts to repair machines or prepare for PM’s, measure parts, specify part numbers of components, support organization and layout of stock room.

  • Assist with mechanical and electrical troubleshooting of equipment and assemblies.

  • Participate in root cause problem solving.

  • Use shop equipment to grind, cut, drill, and tap.

  • Read Electrical, Hydraulic, and Pneumatic Schematics.

  • Learn and apply concepts of Lean Manufacturing.

  • Apply educational background by assisting with tasks and projects related to sustaining industrial equipment and production, and tasks and projects related to operation, design, layout, setup, controls, safety, documentation, quality, and maintenance.

    OTHER FUNCTIONS:

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

    EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/OTHER SKILLS:

  • Must be enrolled in college or technical program and working toward a degree or certificate in a technical field related to industrial equipment and automation.

  • Ability to work well with tools; ability to work well with your hands. 

  • Hands-on skills including but not limited to metal working, machining, fabrication, and general shop equipment use are also highly desirable.

  • General mechanical aptitude, ability to use, repair & maintain machines.  

  • Ability to analyze technical information.

  • Ability to apply mechanic principles to both common & unique technology challenges.

  • Good problem solving skills.

  • Basic understanding of math, including metrics & fractions.

  • Ability to read, write and comprehend process documentation and other written materials.

  • Ability to communicate, follow directions, and cooperate with others.
