Financial Accountant

About the role  

Reporting to the Financial Controller, you will play a pivotal role in our financial control team by helping us to ensure timely and accurate reporting is made that meets all of our compliance and regulatory requirements. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in financial analysis, exceptional attention to detail, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced and dynamic environment. Your day to day will involve working directly with a spectrum of stakeholders across our business on a variety of tasks, which will include: 

What you will be doing:

Financial reporting 

• Prepare and maintain accurate monthly consolidated financial statements (income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements) for internal and external stakeholders in accordance with IFRS. 

• Perform month-end and year-end close processes, ensuring timely and accurate reporting. 

• Prepare statutory financial statements.  

General Ledger management 

• Maintain the general ledger and work with others in the team to ensure all transactions are recorded accurately and in accordance with company policies and procedures. 

• Reconcile accounts (including intercompany) and resolve any discrepancies or issues in a timely manner. 

Compliance 

• Support external audit processes and ensure audit readiness at all times. 

• Ensure compliance with all relevant financial regulations and standards, including tax (Corporation tax, VAT, PAYE and R&D) compliance and reporting.  

• Stay update to date on changes in accounting standards or tax regulations; share knowledge with others and implement necessary changes to ensure compliance. 

Financial insight 

• Conduct analysis of actuals against budget/forecast and explain variances. 

• Collaborate with internal stakeholders, such as finance, operations and management teams, to provide financial insights and support decision making.  

Process improvements and efficiencies 

• Continuously assess and improve financial processes and systems to enhance efficiency and effectiveness of the finance team and wider Group.  

About You: 

You will be a key finance team member for finova and you will feel comfortable collaborating with other members of the team and wider Group. You will be confident in your technical ability and able to communicate effectively with non-financial staff. In terms of your experience, your attitude is everything, but we'd particularly love to see:   

• Financial accountant experience in a fast-paced, dynamic environment – ideally within a B2B SaaS / tech software industry 

• Experience collaborating with multiple stakeholders within an organisation.  

• Highly organised, efficient, and adaptable; able to proactively plan workload and manage priorities. 

• Ability to work well in a team and with excellent interpersonal skills and positive energy.  

Required Skills & Experience   

• Qualified chartered accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent) 

• Minimum 2 years PQE working in a fast-paced SME environment   

• Strong working knowledge of all accounting and financial control processes. 

• Strong understanding of IFRS and UK tax requirements is a must. 

• Excellent accounting background, with experience of consolidations, foreign currencies, share-based payments, business combinations, and R&D capitalization. 

• Understanding of India reporting and tax is desirable. 

• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with a keen attention to detail. 

• Experience in the software industry or other technology-driven sectors preferred. 

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across functions and levels of the organization. 

• Strong Excel skills with experience of using tools such as PowerBI 

• High degree of integrity, professionalism, and attention to detail
