Position Overview The Staff Accountant is responsible for maintaining general ledger accounts and business transactions of the organization, applying generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP). This includes creating financial transactions and reports from that information. The Staff Accountant will evaluate transactions for proper classification and making decisions regarding the posting of the transactions. The Staff Accountant reconciles accounts to ensure their accuracy, assists with establishing policies and procedures for financial reporting, and helps maintain the company\'s Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) 404 compliance. This Staff Accountant position will support the General Accounting team. Essential Duties Include, but are not limited to, the following: Maintain accounting policies and procedures in compliance with applicable government regulations; including, but not limited to, SOX, GAAP, andInternational Financial Reporting Standards Foundation (IFRS). Process cash receipts and record revenue and receivables; work closely with the revenue cycle team to ensure that revenues and receivables are reconciled at any given time. Perform daily cash and bank reconciliation reports and record corresponding journal entries. Perform general account analysis and reconciliations; including, but not limited to, bank statements, fixed assets, accruals, and prepaid expenses. Ensure that general ledger accounts are reconciled to subsidiary records monthly to ensure accuracy. Assist in financial statement preparation through account classifications and transactional coding. Assemble information for external auditors for the annual audit. Calculate and issue financial analysis of the financial statements. Maintain an orderly accounting filing system. Calculate variances from the budget and report significant issues to management. Comply with local, state, and federal government reporting requirements. Engage in assignments for upper management to address long-term planning and risk assessments, as needed.
