Job ID361188 LocationTwin Cities Job FamilySupplemental Employee Full/Part TimePart-Time Regular/TemporaryRegular Job Code0001 Employee ClassCivil Service About the Job This is a position within a research group at the interface of virology and immunology studying mechanisms by which viruses like influenza and respiratory syncytial virus cause disease in humans. Our lab seeks to foster an inclusive environment in which members from diverse backgrounds are encouraged to develop their skills. This position offers the opportunity to interact with physician-scientists. A successful candidate will be a curious, self-motivated team player. This position seeks a candidate whose primary role is to develop and implement recruitment strategies to increase the recruitment of diverse communities into our ongoing research studies. The candidate will be expected to be self motivated and identify venues and opportunities to advance this goal. Candidates are expected to focus on a specific community that is aligned with their experience, abilities, and cultural identity. Responsibilities: 30% Develop recruitment materials and methods 65% Implement recruitment strategies through active community engagement, including consenting patients for research where applicable 5% Interface with laboratory staff regarding specimen kit shipping and receiving and specimen processing Qualifications Required: Highschool diploma or equivalent. Oral language fluency in English and at least one other language Ability to work independently and as part of a team Openness to giving and receiving feedback Strong organizational skills Willingness to complete required research training for working with human subjects (CITI, HIPAA) Preferred: BA/BS or a combination of related education and work experience to equal four years Experience with patient care/ contact Ability to interact patiently and respectfully with young children, teenagers, adults and diverse populations Experience handling human specimens Ability to collect a nasal swab from another person, including children Experience abstracting and reporting data for clinical research Critical thinking skills and the ability to learn and integrate new information quickly Demonstrated ability to maintain deadlines and prioritize assignments Willingness to adapt to changing priorities Ability to work flexible hours, including occasional evening and weekends How To Apply Applications must be submitted online.
