Job ID359654 LocationTwin Cities Job FamilyAcademic Full/Part TimeFull-Time Regular/TemporaryRegular Job Code9546 Employee ClassAcad Prof and Admin About the Job The Translational Center for Resuscitative Trauma Care has an opening for a highly motivated postdoctoral fellow with an interest in big data, health informatics or clinical outcomes research. This position will work under the direction and day-to-day supervision of Dr. Gregory Beilman and Dr. Michael Puskarich at the Translational Center for Resuscitative Trauma Care at University of Minnesota Medical School. This position will have an anticipated length of 2-years and will focus in on one or more areas of investigation of our center. Those areas are characterization of the association of clinical processes (treatments, surgical approaches, treatment tools, etc), health-system structural elements (i.e. nursing staffing levels, hospital of treatment, ICU vs stepdown utilization, etc), patient-factors (SDoH, demographics, comorbidities, disease severity), and provider-factors (years of experience, case volume, etc), and other factors with outcomes. . In addition to just evaluating association of these elements with high-value healthcare, mechanistic analyses are needed to more deeply understand the casual impact that specific factors have on patient survival as well as secondary outcomes. Duties/Responsibilities Identify temporal trends, environmental factors, social determinants of health, provider-level effects, implementation strategies, biologic factors, treatments, and tools that are associated with optimal clinical outcomes for patients with trauma using both local and national data. Evaluate mortality and the association with secondary outcomes such as other clinical outcomes (i.e. hospital length of stay, readmission, patient reported outcome measures, etc), improved patient experience, clinical process measures and disease heterogeneity phenotypes for patients with trauma. Characterize clinical variation in care delivery for patients with trauma including analyzing equitability in care delivery both locally and nationally and characterizing optimal treatments and interventions that result in optimal clinical outcomes. The results of this analysis will generate hypotheses about barriers and facilitators of providing high-quality equitable care. Publish 10-15 publications/chapters/abstracts at conclusion of research years. Collaborate with surgical, critical care and emergency fellows, residents, and other attendings. Attend grand rounds, conferences, and national meetings. Present research at trauma related conferences. Qualifications Required Qualifications: PhD, MD or MD/PhD or equivalent is required with experience in surgery, critical care or emergency medicine. The candidate should have demonstrated initiative and motivation. Ability to critically analyze data and work independently. Must have knowledge of research platforms and be able to present and discuss data in a clear and comprehensive manner. The candidate should also have demonstrated experience working with and leading teams. Developing collaborations, protocols and training other team members. Preferred Qualifications: The preferred candidate would have skills and experiences in scientific writing, the ability to support the development and execution of local and national datase -based study protocols, including an understanding of statistical analysis and publication of scientific research results.
