Job Overview

Position Schedule: Full-Time

With this opportunity, you get to join (and lead) a team of associates responsible for consulting with our Canadian Markets and Regions to help them create an appropriate portfolio of strategies and achieve their annual plans and key measures. This highly visible and influential team serves as a key strategic thought partner to our regions by consulting with them to their desired future state, understanding their unique opportunities and challenges and connecting them to the right resources and support. Leading a team of region consultants to deliver great region experience requires the ability to build strong, collaborative relationships with key leaders both in the field and Home Office, bringing alignment to our region and Canadian objectives. This must all be coupled with a discipline for the consulting process.

As a Leader - Market and Region Consulting, you will be responsible for setting the ambitions and objectives of the team and guiding individual team member success to achieve team-level goals. This is a newly formed and developing capability that will require strong acumen in talent development including performance coaching, guiding and creating accountability for results and outcomes. In addition, the Leader will be a member of the division's leadership team contributing to key initiatives as needed. Responsibilities of the job will include the following:

  • Provide leadership to associates to ensure consistent completion of best practices and delivery of high-quality consulting to our Regional Leadership Teams.

  • Serve as a thought leader and provide SME on our region consulting capability including:

  • Consulting to regions on their vision, current state/future state, unique market opportunities and primary constraints

  • Understanding what region diagnostics is needed to inform the region consulting process

  • Determining suitable strategies, programs and resources to address gaps and opportunities to achieve the region key measures (RKM)

  • Relationship management and stakeholder engagement to achieve collective outcomes

  • Enable HO strategic support (e.g., tools, processes, coordination) that enable Market Leaders and Regions

  • Set objectives, manage performance and hold associates accountable for results.

  • Excellent ability to lead, mentor, train and develop leaders and key associates who exercise a high degree of seasoned judgment on a daily basis

  • Work closely with Market Leaders and Regions to identify critical trends and provide appropriate support.

  • Liaise with stakeholders and functional business areas to ensure effective support of Regions.

  • Ensure consistent and clear communication within entire department, while also acting in coordination on cost projections, projects, and initiatives.

  • Lead matrix team members with large scope projects that may carry a high degree of risk

  • Work with other leaders and senior leadership to obtain necessary resources to achieve department and/or project objectives

  • Reinforce the Firm's culture, values and vision

Skills/Requirements

  • Bachelors degree; advanced degree is an asset

  • IIROC, life and health insurance, Financial Planning, Coaching and Change Management certification and accreditations would all be considered assets

  • Experience

  • 5+ years of people leadership and coaching, including leading remote teams

  • 5+ years of relevant consulting (performance, management, financial, business development, institutional, etc.) experience

  • Previous Financial Advisor sales experience considered an asset

  • SME in at least 2 or more of the following areas and a commitment to broaden to the other areas:

  • Market planning and growth

  • Financial Advisor performance and health

  • Practice management (e.g., growth of ideal clients)

  • Client strategies and experience design

  • Advisor/Market growth strategies

  • Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Strong people leadership skills including the ability to influence current and future senior leaders (in the field and Home Office)

  • Demonstrated ability to lead, delegate, inspire and engage associates to achieve business objectives and drive engagement (and do so remotely as needed)

  • Strong learning agility to be able to manage changing conditions and lead through ambiguity

  • Exceptional verbal, written and public speaking communication skills

  • Independent thinker with the ability to leverage internal and external resources

  • Comfortable with technology, planning and collaboration software and tools,

  • Ability to Travel 10% of the time
