What You’ll Be Doing

The Associate Trust & Estate Consultant (ATEC) supports the business development teams for all markets across the Region in administration, business development, marketing, client sales meetings, relationship management and site visits, working closely with Regional Directors (RDs), Senior Trust & Estate Consultants (STECs), Trust & Estate Consultants (TECs) and Trust Officers (TOs) to ensure excellent client service.

How You’ll Succeed

  • Client Service – Communicate with partners to qualify clients for Trust services and gather initial information. Coordinate client meetings and prepare materials, including marketing packages. Attend client meetings with STEC/TEC and lead meetings where client profile is low complexity.

  • Operational Excellence - Prepare New Business Acceptance documents for Executor, Trustee and Power of Attorney (POA) accounts and Agency accounts, according to policies and procedures. Organize communications/meetings with partners, clients and COIs. Attend to tracking and follow up of new business opportunities. Assist with client and partner presentations. Identify potential risks and escalate concerns appropriately in a timely manner.

  • Sales & Marketing – Promote partner awareness of Trust services, particularly at times of staff turn-over. Partner effectively with RDs, STECs and TECs to ensure a smooth hand-off during client onboarding. Collaborate with Trust Officers, Property Managers, Investment Managers, Tax Officers, and Wills Department to administer accounts effectively and deliver excellent client service. Pro-actively refer clients and beneficiaries to CIBC partners. Maintain current knowledge of estate, trust and POA/Guardianship matters, including jurisprudence, legislation, tax rules and regulations

  • Administrative Support – Travel to client properties and safety deposit box locations to secure estate/POA assets and gather required documents. Oversee work completed by 3rd party service providers, to ensure dual custody of estate assets. Liaise with property management firms, appraisers, auction houses, co-fiduciaries and beneficiaries.

Who You Are

  • You can demonstrate expert experience and knowledge of banking and related financial services typically obtained through a minimum of three years experience in the financial services industry. You have experience building and maintaining High Value client relationships. You have well-developed research and evaluation skills to make prudent recommendations.

  • You are a certified professional with completion of professional accreditations to become a Member, Trust Institute (MTI) or Trust and Estate Practitioner (TEP) within a reasonable timeframe.

  • You understand that success is in the details. You notice things that others don't. Your critical thinking skills help to inform your decision making and you have demonstrated ability to effectively judge and manage individual/company/client risk while exercising discretion.

  • You're fluent in French and English to serve our clients in the community.
