Job Summary

Quality Assurance Analyst. Collaborate with lab manager and R&D Chemist to ensure that food-grade activated carbon products meet standards set by client companies and regulatory authorities. Develop and review quality and safety policies and manage audits by third-party inspectors. Conduct food-grade laboratory experiments to identify potential allergens in various types of activated carbon. Conduct Molasses decolorization and Methylene Blue experiments on wood base activated carbon using a UV/VIZ Spectrophotometer to compare various powdered activated carbon types applied in wine and food decolorization applications. Review and maintain the company’s food grade certifications, such as Halal, Kosher, and USP latest editions. Evaluate food-grade activated carbon products processing and storage operations and assist in developing food safety programs; recommend and help implement corrective action initiatives ensuring food safety issues and concerns are resolved promptly. Prepare and evaluate food-grade activated carbon test reports and issue a certificate of analysis for each customer. Conduct wet chemistry and physical and ASTM test methods, such as Iodine number, moisture, ash content, size distribution, and density. Maintain ISO17025 certified lab records, calibration of instruments, and chemical inventory, including organic solvents, lab supplies, and apparatus. Stay abreast of the latest technological advances and industry trends and maintain familiarity with chemical procedures and strategies applicable to carbon activation and production. Requirements: The position requires a Bachelor’s degree in Nutritional Sciences, Dietetics, Biochemistry, or a related field. The position requires skills and knowledge in food research, food science, and food sanitation. 40 hours/week. Job Site: Mount Hope, WV.
