Quality Engineer

Description

As a Supplier Quality Engineer,you will provide technical expertise and supplier quality support in light& heavy fabrications and other purchased finished components whilemaximizing Quality, Cost, Logistics, Delivery, and Management at the supplybase.

Job Duties/Responsibilities mayinclude, but are not limited to:

  • Collaborate closely with medium to high risk suppliers to identify quality improvement plans to reduce quality risk to the N. Little Rock Facility

  • Evaluate and develop supplier’s technological capability to meet quality requirements

  • Identify pro-active quality action plans with identified suppliers to drive continuous improvement

  • Provide urgent containment, supplier notification and RCCA planning to address supplier quality issues

  • Provide technical and quality guidance in projects and activities that support operations, quality, and other process partners within N. Little Rock

  • Collaborate with facility quality and the purchasing teams to develop supplier quality metrics, targets and goals

  • Identify and deploy specific action plans with suppliers and facility process partners to implement improvement goals

  • Track and monitor supplier metric results in facility boards and purchasing dashboards

  • Work with engineering and manufacturing engineering to optimize process and technical requirements to drive superior performance

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree from an accredited college or university (or 8 years of manufacturing and quality experience)

  • Quality, engineering or manufacturing engineering experience

  • 3 years of job related experience

Top candidates will also have:

  • Experience using SAP, EtQ and AQE systems

  • An engineering or manufacturing background with familiarity with manufacturing processes used to produce components and assemblies

  • Good human relations/communications skills as well as possess the potential for leadership is required to develop a cooperative working relationship with others inside and outside of Caterpillar

  • Solid ability to use and demonstrate skill in statistical and problem solving tools

  • Understanding of quality systems and processes

  • Experience with fabrications, metallurgy, or material science

  • Experience with Project Management tools and techniques
