Project Manager, Command Firefighting Trainer Modernization

KBR is seeking a Project Manager to support our Surface Warfare Schools Command (SWSC), Shore-based Firefighting Trainer Modernization Team in Newport, Rhode Island. In this role you will be responsible for providing project oversight for the modernization of six firefighting training facility modernization projects. Works closely with team members to ensure that all project requirements, deadlines, and schedules are on track. Submits project deliverables, prepares status reports, and establishes effective project communication plans as well as the proper execution of said plans.

Role and Responsibilities:

  • Coordinates with cross-discipline team members to ensure that all parties are on track with project requirements, deadlines, and schedules.

  • Meets with project team members to identify and resolve issues.

  • Ensures project deliverables adhere to quality standards.

  • Preparing status reports; gather, analyze, and summarize relevant information.

  • Establishes effective project communication plans and ensures their execution.

  • Facilitates change requests to ensure that all parties are informed of the impacts on schedule and budget.

  • Coordinating the development of user manuals, training materials, and other documents as needed to enable successful implementation and turnover of the process or system to the clients.

  • Obtaining customer acceptance of project deliverables.

  • Conducting post-project evaluation and identifying successful and unsuccessful project elements.

Basic Qualifications:

  • A minimum of a bachelor’s degree in either business or management is commonly required for Project Manager roles.

  • Must have at least 10 years of relevant experience with an extensive understanding of the Damage Control and Firefighting community. Within the 10 years of experienced you must have the following: A minimum of 2 years of experience as a Damage Control Assistant is required. 1 year of specialized experience is required in the following: 1) Management of the project's scope, schedule, and budget; 2) Providing technical guidance/leadership to team members for various projects; and 3) Briefing senior leadership and stakeholders on project's status.

  • Must have proven experience in project management and the ability to lead project teams of various sizes.

  • A Project Management Professional PMP, PgMP, CAPM and/or comparable project management certifications is required.

  • A Maritime or Navy Damage Control and Firefighting background is required.

  • Must have a background in business skills, management, budgeting and analysis.

  • Must be comfortable managing multiple tasks a team player and have a problem-solving aptitude.

  • A current secret level security clearance is required.
