This role is part of Caterpillar's Excavation Division, which has a product line that ranges from 11 metric ton car-sized equipment, up to a massive 90 metric ton product that can dig a car-sized hole in a single scoop. Be part of a team that helps develop, integrate or test complex autonomy systems focusing on machine safety and productivity – ultimately providing a differentiated product value to our customers globally.
Evaluate and develop state of the art iterative optimization algorithms that directly impact machine performance or efficiency.
Utilize machine learning techniques and algorithms to directly impact machine performance or efficiency.
Help identify new areas where algorithms can leverage data to enhance performance.
Execute system development for the semi-automatic control system, automatic control system or other advanced features.
Stay up-to-date with technology, develop increased technical breadth and/or depth of one’s own specialty – be innovative yet able to convert concepts to reality.
Collaborate with a global, multidisciplinary team - effectively communicate ideas and developmental results.
Bachelor's Degree in accredited engineering, computer science or materials science curriculum
1-3 years of engineering experience with a Bachelor’s Degree or 0-1 years with a Master’s Degree
Knowledge and/or experience with: software design, kinematic design, control/robotics logic, electric, electronics, hydraulic, software coding, embedded computer system, control theory and data communication
Demonstrate excellent analytical skills and have an extensive understanding of complex engineering concepts and applications
Top candidates will also have:
Master’s Degree in accredited engineering, computer science or materials science curriculum
IPA Embedded Systems Specialist Examination (ES) or similar credentials
Excellent technical and problem-solving skills, with strong mechanical and hydraulics aptitude
Familiar with Autosar, GIT and IVY
Experience with CANape
1 years of experience with software development
Experience with: Python, C/C , SQL, Amazon Web Services, Docker, Kubernetes, Linux, HTML/JS, XML/JSON, Matlab/Simulink and UML
