Parts and Service Marketing Consultant


The Parts and Services Marketing Consultant is expected to provide both qualitative and quantitative direction towards the best service repair options for Cat products. This direction is critical to the development of forward-looking service plans, for our dealers and customers, and will drive key parts marketing initiatives and metrics at the corporate level.

This role will define expected repair and maintenance service options for engines and machines using both dealer and Caterpillar data. The service options will be recommended, created, published, and maintained for use by our Worldwide dealers and our partners. As a focal member of the team, the consultant will work with product groups, life cycle managers, dealers, and key internal partners to identify specific business rules for the creation of the product service strategy. Once the strategy and service options are developed, the consultant will use facts and data to determine the framework required for critical service components such as repair intervals, parts consumed, and the labor hours required to complete specific repair options. The team’s output is the foundational dataset for processes and systems such as OLGA (POPS-C, POLS), TM&R, Labor Guides (ELRG, TRG, MLG), PM services (VisionLInk, CatInspect), standard jobs, CVAs, VET, and many more.

Job Duties/Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:

  • Calculate service costs (TM&R and PM) and recommend service strategy changes to lower them

  • Drawing on data and prior mechanical experience, the consultant should be able to support or challenge the status-quo.

  • Quality, attention to detail, and integrity are critical attributes for this position.

  • Travel to dealers to perform labor time studies


Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or 5-8 years experience in a combination of analytics, product support, product development roles will be accepted in lieu of a bachelor’s degree

  • 3-5 years of product or product support experience

  • Minimum 1 year experience using service data (ie Builder/Calculator)

Top Candidates Will Also Have

  • Knowledge of Caterpillar products, policies, procedures, customer applications, dealer support and service capabilities.

  • Must have excellent analytical and communication skills including demonstrated expertise in SIS, Tableau, SAS, Excel, Word, PPT, etc.

  • Strong customer focus and ability to influence across multiple levels of the enterprise to gain the respect of senior business leaders.

  • Ability to fulfill individual role by delivering high quality work in a timely manner while interacting with and supporting the team effectively

  • Ability to work effectively in the global environment with many different cultures represented is critical to the success of this position.

  • Proven knowledge of dealer work order structure, product structure in engineering drawings, and understanding of HVC.

  • Strong mechanical understanding of engines and machines

  • Field Representative experience working with heavy equipment and/or engine dealers
