The Opportunity

Caterpillar’s Resource Industries Sales, Services & Technology (RISST) team has an exciting opportunity for a Senior Accounting Consultant. This highly motivated individual contributor will provide insights to the business related to large deals, including but not limited to Americas Large Deal support, Post Close Analysis, regional profit targets and dashboards. This position will also work closely with other workstreams and functional areas across Resource Industries.

What You Will Do:

• Business partner and trusted adviser supporting Large Deal Analysis.

• Drive business decisions through insightful analysis of customer needs and product profitability.

• Provide business insights and support for the Resource Industries Go-to-Market (Commercial) organizations, including pricing, sales variance and variable margin analysis and support/proposal profitability analysis.

• Commercial support, including pricing and sales variance strategy, deal support and recommendation.

• Create process to measure deal performance and lifecycle analysis.

• Analyze and critique information for conformance with US and local GAAP, corporate guidelines, and reasonability levels.

What You Have:

• Education/Experience: This position typically requires a Bachelor’s Degree in accounting, finance, or business-related degree and 8+ years of job-related experience.

• Analytical Thinking: Knowledge of techniques and tools that promote effective analysis; ability to determine the root cause of organizational problems and create alternative solutions that resolve these problems.

• Effective Communications: Understanding of effective communication concepts, tools and techniques; ability to effectively transmit, receive, and accurately interpret ideas, information, and needs through the application of appropriate communication behaviors.

• Managing Multiple Priorities: Knowledge of effective self-management practices; ability to manage multiple concurrent objectives, projects, groups, or activities, making effective judgments as to prioritizing and time allocation.

• Decision Making and Critical Thinking: Knowledge of the decision-making process and associated tools and techniques; ability to accurately analyze situations and reach productive decisions based on informed judgment.

Top Candidates Will Also Have:

• Strong communication skills, intellectual curiosity, and interpersonal skills.

• Initiative, leadership, good judgment, and accountability.

• Ability to resolve issues independently and take ownership of responsibilities.

• Excellent business acumen along with familiarity with tools such as Excel, Power BI, Snowflake.
